Celestine Prophecy....
I loved this book so much, and now they finally came out with the movie! It's playing in selected areas across the US, but unfortunately not in my city
If any of you have read the book or have seen the movie I would love to hear your thoughts? I hear the movie was pretty good and I can't wait to go & see it!

. But all in all, the book was a little over the top in squishy feeling type stuff. The insights that I thought were interesting were those having to do with competition for energy, and finding energy from sources other than taking it from someone else. I look at things from a more physical sense than metaphysical, but I think there is much to ponder in the realm of energy when you consider that everything is energy and everything is correlated to the speed of light, ie, E = MC2. The gazillions of particles that make an animate being like you, are the same particles that make inanimate things like, say, a box of dirt, or Theresa Heinz Kerry. However, the bit about everybody you meet having something to tell you that will lead you on your destiny is a little whacky. As you know, men never ask for directions. I'd be interested to see how they make a movie out of that book. Not a lot of action - maybe if they got Chuck Norris to star in it and he beats the crap out of everybody on his quest toward enlightenment? Last edited by Shredman; 05-21-2006 at 10:57 AM.. |

Something about "vibrations" and how they all "crossed over" together. I kept thinking "Beam me up Scotty!" and hearing the theme from The Twilight Zone The movie might be good if they filmed part of it in the Yucatan, just to see some of the locations.... |

Yeah, I agree with some of you that the book is, well, a little squishy. But on the other hand, like Shredman said "competition for energy, and finding energy from sources other than taking it from someone else" was really interesting.....and, I really think that the book taught me to "slow" down and perceive the events and opportunities that happen in life....which is what the book calls "coincidences." We'll just have to see if the movie is up to par with the book

I've read the entire trilogy... The Celestine Prophecy, The Tenth Insight: Holding the Vision, and The Secret of Shambhala: In Search of the Eleventh Insight. I enjoyed them... though by the third book I found the premise very worn out. Definitely typical new age squishy. If you enjoy James Redfield, you'd probably also enjoy Dan Millman's books: Way of the Peaceful Warrior and Sacred Journey of the Peaceful Warrior.
