Roni, that plan is coming from the House of Representatives, including some Democrats. Bush's plan on immigration is the fairest, not to mention sanest.

There has been no terror attack on the US mainland since 9/11. Despite the constant whining about civil liberties ("they are going to check the books you borrow from the library", "they have my phone records", etc.), law enforcement has either intercepted or foiled terrorist plots since 9/11.

Okay, I 'm confussed. We are a zillion dollars in debt, the intrest rate has been raised 15 or 16 times businesses are moving over seas, we're at war with a country suposedly because they have weapons of mass destruction which they didn't have and we knew this from the begining, we have destablized the middle east, gas is $3.00 a gallon and as far as no terrorist attacks........what the hell do you call 911 a meet and greet? All on Bush's watch.

Fair enough on the immigration plan, though earlier presidential leadership may have led to a different outcome in the house.

On the whining about civil liberties - some of the loudest whining is coming from the right - people like Bob Barr, for example. You can probably admit that the view of executive power by this administration is toward the extreme side in US history and that reasonable people can legitimately be very concerned about the state of individual rights in the US today.

I agree with the idea that Bush is using the powers granted to him, to the hilt. It may irk some to see this use of power, but there is nothing illegal about a President doing what is in his job description. Some may prefer the "good old days" when we let the judicial branch legislate, but those days are over.
