Grand Coco Bay questions

For those of you who have stayed at Grand Coco Bay resort, can you please tell me if they require men to wear long pants in the 2 restaurants where reservations are only taken or can men wear nice shorts as well?
Is bottled water provided in the room for brushing teeth?
We have our insulated mugs, thanks to this board. Great suggestion! Any other suggestions?
Can't wait!!!!!!

What I've found to be helpful is to look on the resort's webpage, and they will tell you if the restaurants require men to wear long pants. Hubby & I have been to a few resorts where they say long pants only, but we've gotten away with him wearing shorts and no problemo. And, as for the water most AI include a bottled water in your room for free and you might have to pay for any extra.

I would bring long pants for the guys just in case. We stayed there (only girls though) but did see men in shorts at the Mexican retaurant but I think the Italian was a little dressier for men. No, there is not bottled water in the rooms. You can buy it in the little store in the lobby for 1.00. We brushed our teeth with tap water. not a problem.

We stayed at the GCB last March. I wore jeans and tennis shoes to the resurants, they require long pants and closed toe shoes (no sandels). There was only canned pop in the room fridge. I walked to a large store Mega) everyother morning and bought bottled water ($0.18 each) and Diet Pepsi. There is a water fountain at the beach bar where you can refill water bottles. Plan to go back next year, and stay at the Grand Coco again.

I believe the specialty restaurants have A/C so at least it won't be tooooo hot. Usually they require men to wear long pants, shirts w/ sleeves and nice shoes. My husband has some leather sandals that are not closed but are dressy and he always wears those and has never been turned away.

We'll be there in August...when are you going?

Just got back last week!
No Bottled water in the rooms ....we bought a few at Mega but then switched to GCB's ....the on site water was as good as bottled to us ... we never ate at either of the 2 restaurants .. they had four "seating times" and I PURPOSELY left my watch at home ... it's vacation time ... didn't want to be on a schedule! we did wander by a couple of times and long pants (mostly dockers etc.) were worn ... sandles seemed to be the norm

Gcb

Thanks Grizz! Yea, we plan on leaving our watches at home and my husband isn't crazy about having to wear long pants. If he can't go into a place with shorts and a nice shirt, then we won't be going there. Buffet it will be or venturing out into town.
Did they happen to stock the fridge in your room with beer? What was your overall experience with GCB?

We stayed there in Feb. and really loved it. No beer in the frig. just 4 cans of soda, unless that has changed since Feb. Kind of dumb, only 4 cans of soda.

Thanks Jan&Chas. We might just have to head to the local grocery or Walmart and stocked it ourselves then or maybe ask the bartender nicely to give us a few beers to take back to our fridge. They have Corona on tap, correct? What did you like best about GCB and what did you like least?

yes, had PLENTY of corona. Bring a big insulated mug for your corona! I like the fact that the resort is on the smaller side. I don't like big resorts. The beach is awesome. You don't have a lot of neighboring hotels either but the stretch of beach is the best for your daily walk. The resort is beautiful. I love the thatched hut look it has. The entertainment staff are terrific bunch of guys/gals. They are alot of fun. Some of the nightly entertainment is a little lame but they make it fun just because that is the kind of people that they are. I hope Damien is still there. gosh, he is a neat guy. You will meet a lot of people there. I found the food to be quite good actually. That was our first all inclusive so I have nothing to compare it to but just the same, I thought it was good. We always went to the first serving for dinner and the food was always very hot at the buffet. I particularly liked my dinner at the Italian. I had some kind of garlic shrimp pasta. Not sure but it was really good. Anyway, we definately would go back again.
