Hi
We “discovered” Playa only a few years ago when we took a bus there; at the time we had no idea what to expect and had not really heard much about Playa. We have been back several times since, the latest trips in October, then again over Christmas and New Years. We will arrive in Playa again on Jan. 20th for a week, we are getting married on the 25th at a villa in Playacar –(Casa Xtacy) - there will be a number of people from Minnesota in for our wedding – stop by and say Hi if you are around…

John & Terry from Burnsville.

how many minnesota users

Congratulations John and Terry! :P What a perfect place to have a ceremony! Make sure you take lots of pics and fill us all in on what is new and exciting!

Thanks to all of you Snow Birds that keep this going. I will continue to look for pics and read all of the posts daily.....It seems that every year after the flight is booked, I get the Playa bug and can't keep away from others experiences! Keep it coming! Mel

John & Terry,

To say that Casa Xtacy is SWEET is an understatement... the place is sprawling and the cascading pool system is fabulous. I certainly hope you have more than 20 guests because the place will look empty with anything less. I had friends that stayed there last January and I took extensive video footage of the property... I can guarantee you won't be disappointed. By the way, the beach is easily a block away and then some.

Anyway... congratulations on the joint venture!! I'll be arriving in the evening of the 25th on MLT, so I guess we'll have to toast you lovebirds as we're flying over the heartland.

Have Fun!!

Jimmy

PS: Sometime when you've returned and things are normalized, I'd like to quiz you on your experiences with the rental company you use. One of my clients asked me to locate the perfect rental home for him while I'm down there. My friend who stayed at Casa Xtacy used the rental office where the outlet from Playacar Phase1 hits the T in the road at 10th Avenue. Just be nice to compare notes...

Hello fellow Minnesotians! Its kmasp430 from Lakeville! I have fallen in love with Mexico and hope to spend alot more time there in the future! I've lived in Minnesota all my life, never sat on a snowmobile, never been in an ice house, have skiied only once and don't know how to ice skate! Get it yet? I hate winter in MN, the only good thing about it is I get to go watch our MN Wild! Let's Go Wild! Will be heading to PDC Feb 22 - Mar 3 at the RIU Palace, stop and say hi, we'll have a drink or two. Stay warm our one month of summer is almost here! ---kmasp430

Holy Crap! I cannot believe how many Minnesota folk we have around here! Reflective of our booming traffic on this site, I guess.

Well, last time I was in Minnesota, I was wining and dining a customer I flew up from Mexico City almost ten years ago. We were visiting some plant that my company had installed stuff in. We went to the Mall of Americas where we couldn't find any blue leather shoes for my client's electric blue suit. Rats.

Spent the evening driving around in a rented Lexus. It was cold.

Ahhhh, those Minnesota memories....

If you want memories, come to Minnesota's next door neighbor Wisconsin. Our culture is so much more refined, and our winter weather ever-so-slightly warmer. And, bratwurst is the ultimate party food.

Here is another Minnesotan to add to the list. I have lived here my entire life and the only way I get through the unbearable winters is by chasing the blues away in Mexico. I will be making my fourth trip to PDC 2/7-2/17 after discovering it over 5 years ago. I have travelled to all the key Mexican vacation destinations- Mazatlan, Puerta Vallarta, Ixtapa, Cancun, Cozumel and PDC is by far the best. I am not one to return to the same place over and over but I can't help myself! I love PDC!!! I even drug my boyfriend there last year who was not thrilled about leaving the country and after his first cervesa he was completely hooked! I think I even saw tears welling up in his eyes as we left. I am a true addict and fan.

I just found this board. We leave for PDC in a few weeks - I just figured that I was the only person in Minnesota dying to leave the cold behind! We are staying at the Riu Tequila..anyone else?

I live in Big Lake, MN, originally from Wadena then about 10 years in Fergus Falls. Just got back from Playa on Saturday. I will be posting a trip report soon. We bumped into a lot of Minnesotans while we were there. We had a great time and can't wait to go back. This forum was very helpful and I am so glad I found it.

Hello from Northern Minnesota. We'll be coming down at the end of Feb if everything works out. This will be our 5th trip south (following Zihuatanejo, Jamaica, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta) and we can't wait to spend time in Playa.

We're involved in some winter activities but eventually the "if you can't beat it, join it" attitude that we try to take loses out to "let's get the ____ out of here for a week!" We envy the people in Mpls who don't have the 4-hour drive to airport, although the long drive probably curbs my obsession a bit. Once a year to Mexico is about par, and I'd have to say that it's way toward the top in the hi-lights of the year category.

Golden Valley, MN here...just outside of Minneapolis. Will be going down for two weeks (March 19th to April 3rd). Been down to Playa 3 out of the past 4 years (went to Zihuatanejo a couple of years ago instead....nice, but not Playa). This will be the first time going solo though - lost my girlfriend in a cenote! Any hints on getting lotion on the back solo? :o

Hi guys. I 'used' to bartend in St. Cloud during college and then at JJ's for another five years or so (I stopped about three years ago). I think I put down Bartender under occupation cause I 'tended for so long and it just seems more exciting than my "real" job (real estate)

 Snowboarder, how funny is that..... we hang at JJ's at least once a week! We live behind the old Rupperts (Metropolitan). When was the last time you went to Playa, and when will you go again? We go every year after May 1st.
