Hi guys, thought I should say hello before I started asking silly questions.
My wife and I have decided at the last minute that we "must" visit your beautiful backyard in the middle of our trip to the US in October. The main problem being we know nothing about the place other than the million or so fantastic recommendations. We will only be here for 7 short days but I would love to fit in as many interesting and cultural things as I can between beach sleeps and drinks. Never fear I will use the search function to the best of my ability but please bear with me when I inevitably ask some basic newbie questions in my search for memory's of fantastic day trips to take back home with us... Returning for Another Xmas
Wife & I will be back for our second visit this Christmas; this board made our first Xmas 2007 visit relaxing & easy.
By the way, the interactive map is fabulous! Last time I had printed out a bunch of maps I found all over the place. Can't wait to eat for next to nothing, get in couple of cenote & ocean dives & cool out!

Greeting from Canada... eh
Hi All,
Looking forward to coming down to Playa del Carmen and the Mayan Riviera in May. I'm scouting for filming locations, and looking forward to soaking in some of the great atmosphere. -Dennis |

Hi Heather and Everyone else!
I will also be a new regular on this site as my wife and I are planning our first trip to Cancun in August 2012. I would GREATLY appreciate any help/advice anyone can give us for our trip. We are both very active and love to hike, climb, swim, and workout regularly. We are looking specifically for a few things. We need a good place to get scuba certified (unless we do it before we leave) good cenotes to explore, and a good chiropractor in the area (we both get adjusted regularly at home). We would also LOVE to make some new friends while we are there, so if anyone else is traveling around the same time, please let us know! Thanks for being here in the forums! |

I here ya regarding Cancun. I know its a huge spring break party area, but believe me that holds no interest for either of us! I wouldn't travel that far to do things I could do here in the US, it makes no sense to me! We want to experience other places, but Cancun is typically the cheapest place to stay. We will only be there to sleep, there will be very little bar hopping or drinking for us. I love heat and humidity, so no worries about the weather for me, but thanks for the warning! We mostly want to experience the landscape and the diving (ocean and cenote). I very rarely do the "tourist" stuff, its usually too boring for me. I do, however, love meeting people with similar interests and often times that means hanging out with other tourists...lol.

Coming soon
My cousin was down there just a few weeks ago and said he drank at a bar around 1st/26th I think and said there are rental condos above it but cannot remember the name of the building or how to contact the place. All his drunken ass can remember is the bar is called the sandbox and the condos upstairs are really nice (he picked up a Canadian girl that was staying in one).
Can anyone help with what is is or even exactly where it is? Cheers, Joseph |

Hi all! Lovey hubby and I are travelling in December with another couple. We've been to the area several times. Twice as a stop on a cruise and once to stay in Tulum. I know this is a forum for PDC, but there isn't much to Tulum, and we will be coming to PDC a few times during our stay! Our friends that we are coming with haven't been there before, so we are really looking forward to sharing one of our favorite places with them.
I'm looking through the threads for interesting places to eat and drink. Hubby and I are foodies, and refuse... REFUSE to eat or drink at any chain restaurant! No Senor Frogs for us... ever! We love Frosty's for tacos in Tulum. But the best tacos we've ever had were at a mobile cart behind the bus station in Playa! So, we are more into the local scene than the touristy sales pitch. I'm also looking for a tequila tasting. We did one as an excursion on a cruise once, and I really want to take our friends to one also. I didn't learn a lot last time, because we got so drunk from doing shots!!! So, I'm looking forward to participating here, meeting new people, and learning a lot! |

Hi all; great to be on this forum!! I am a newbie but a long time reader. I have been to Playa Del Carmen three times now and planning for my 4th!!! I was wondering if anyone could help me out on advice on renting a 1 bedroom Condo for a month downtown close to beach and 5th Avenue or a moderately priced motel with kitchenette. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give me!!
