Boy, that was tough to get out, I'm not used to public speaking.

On a serious note, I am here because I am considering retiring soon and this is one of the places I would like to investigate since I hear so many good things about Playa.

At this point I'm going to start reading these postings and learn what I can.

Depends on what the question is about. Check out the various sub-forum areas available - "General", "AI", "Off Topic", etc - to see where it should most appropriately be asked, then just start a thread, like you just did to make this inquiry. Of course, first you'll be giving the "Search" feature a try just to make sure the question hasn't been asked and answered dozens of times, as so many have. There's a dandy tutorial on how to make the best use of the Search function in the General sub-forum (Search Function 101). Good luck, and welcome.

And your point is......? If you're looking to generate some discussion on Phuket as a vacation spot, might I suggest you start a thread in the "Off Topic" sub forum?. Seems to me that would be a more appropriate venue than this, where the primary goal is introductions. You're much more likely to find folks who are interested there, than you are here. Just a thought.

We are 44 days from arriving in Playa. I can't wait. We've been to many Caribbean destinations, but not Playa. We did just visit Costa Maya on a cruise a month ago. I'll be checking in to find out the scoop about playa. Where to be etc. We are going with another couple and will be staying at the Iberostar in Playacar. Can't wait

Hello all... My name is Paul and I live in Newburyport, Ma which is on north shore of Boston ( Go Sox, Go Pats!!!). This is my first post on forum and will be visiting Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen for first time next week (arriving 1/6/08)

. Unfortutately, I just found this forum so I have a lot of reading to do in next 7 days!!! My wife and I will be staying at The Mayan Palace but I have rented a car so plan on spending quite a bit of time in and around PdC. With so much info this site, I guess my first question is if there is local cafe that offers wi-fi so I can bring my lap top and not have to print off all the pages of info that is on this forum???? And what are "peeps" that I have been reading so much about????

Welcome, Paul!! There are TONS of internet cafes, and I believe more than a handful of wifi options. One I know of for sure is a bar called Tequila Barrel, which is on 5th avenue between 10th and 12th streets.

"Peeps" is a term that is short for people, and it means people who hang out on this forum! You're one of us now, buddy. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Finally made the jump from looker to player on this site. Heather - you are awesome - Thanks again for getting me hooked up with a condo (at last minute). My husband and I have been going to Mexico for over 16 years. First 8 were to Cozumel and now it's been Playa. We travel just the two of us or a huge group of friends.
I've stayed at various hotels/condos in the area and rented villas.
We were in Playa in January and will be back this Thursday, 03/13/08! Plan to hit El Pirata during the day.

Hi All. I'm new to this site. I'm leaving to Playa in May for my and my husband's anniversary and it will be our second time to Mexico. We loved it so much the first time but didn't have enough time to see everything it had to offer. We took a cruise to Cozumel and ferried over to Playa for the day, but this year decided to spend the whole time in Playa at a resort. Any suggestions on things to see/do would be greatly appreciated. Just wanted to say hi since everyone seems so nice on these threads. Have a great day.

New to the forum, also heading to PDC for not only my bday, but 2nd year anniversary also. We havent pin pointed the arrival day, but late may early june.
If you havent been to Shangra La hotel, take a visit for dinner. The best beach, Best sunset and great food. That's where will be staying. Highly recomended

Hey Scarjet, thank you for the recommendation. I have been hearing very nice things about the Shangra La, that was of course after I found this forum and booked our hotel.

But we'll definitly pass by, I believe it is somewhat close to where we are staying. Maybe we'll see you guys there!

We'll be there the week of 5/19.
