Karma Bagels
This is a fairly new spot to eat, upstairs at the corner of Constituyentes and 5th, above Aco los Tacos. Maya and I had lunch there last Saturday and it was terrific.
The prices were very reasonable and the food fresh and good. Service was outstanding, but we were almost the only customers. My lunch was a cheese bagel with marinated chicken breast, avocado, sprouts and a couple of other ingredients I forget. The bagel was large and very fresh, and the sandwich was served warm. Price: 57 pesos. Maya had a salad; they come in two sizes and she had a small with a bagel on the side. Fresh mixed greesn with a very nice dressing, which they make themselves. Dressing choices include honey/mustard, ranch, blue cheese and others. When we'd finished eating, they offered us a free coffee. Then, as we were leaving, the server asked if we lived here. When we said yes, she gave us a card marked 10% off and said we could use it for all return visits. We both recommend this restaurant. The prices are good, the food is very nice and if the service we got is anything to go by, you'll be treated well. Hope others enjoy this new spot before they have to close for lack of business! ![]() |

I will be trying it out this weekend with Maya also and am looking so forward to her being back on Playa. Now all I need is to find a place that I can get chocolate chip waffles for my girls and everything will be good.

That is so wild! I really did just make a post about a jewish deli! Was I beaten to the punch?
Its actually a lot easier for ex-pats living in Playa to get excited about a good bagel place in Playa as there are may great bagel places in Houston. Still, a good bagel is a good bagel, whether in Houston, London, Minsk or Playa del Carmen! Maybe I'll run into the sweet and lovely Page and/or Maya while in there! |

We were there a few weeks ago and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Since they seem to be getting very few customers (at least at that time), I was worried about the freshness of the bagels, but no problems there. If this place was in my hometown of Chicago, I'm not sure that I'd be particularly impressed, but for Playa, it's awesome.

Thought about eating there when we'd get to thier door by Constituyentes....but somehow just kept on going....AND it was usually raining and I could see myself on those marble stairs...
![]() ![]() But it DID look good. Closest we got was one day in the rain around 2 pm eating burritos at Aca Los Tacos... |

If ya can't get bagels there, go to Java Joe's. They are packaged bagels, but once they are toasted and accompanied with cream cheese or butter, they will do! Besides that the breakfast crowd is great!!.

During our last trip, when we were walking from the bus station to our hotel we saw this place and were thrilled there would be a bagel place for breakfast so close to where we were staying. Then every morning we walked by it was closed. We found this very odd.

I think they are a lunch place, not a breakfast place. They have something like 22 different types of sandwiches on bagels, but they are all "lunch" type sandwiches. I've eaten there twice, for lunch both times, and was very happy both times.
