I don't think so. That's Laura's sister.

Rissask's Carrie Moss is the manager of Agora, the restaurant there.

Especially as James seems to have cleared up that little mystery, I'm going to pull a Synestre and post something back on the original topic, here.

The corner location that used to be a swing bar, on 5th Ave at 14 bis (basically at the bottom of the hill, there) is coming along and now has marble all along the facade of the upper level. There was some kind of event there the other night and I stopped by to ask the guy evidently in charge about it, but he told me it was just a one-off thing that night and that the place was being offered up for rent.

So I guess there's no specific plans for it, if he was right, and thus any Peeps looking to make the move to Playa and start a business might want to check that out.

I would make it back into the swing bar again!
We loved hanging out there, it was right across from the El Tukan, that is the place you are talking about right?
See how much they want for it for us, and if they are building a bedroom/kitchen onto it.:p

What the hell if Burger King can survive in Playa so be it. No skin off my nose but we certainly won't be going there. I don't even like the Mexican corporate eatery's much less American ones.

IF I ever found myself in Cancun, I MIGHT be persuaded to try Ruth's Chris' Steakhouse....Haven't eaten in one but heard good things.
Oh, AND Ruth and I had a good time at JB's Margaritaville....

If it maintains the same standards as the stores stateside then I'm sure it is amazing. I'm a big fan.

Like minds, me thinks.

OK, back on topic...Jimmy, of the previously famous No Name bar, is opening a new place in the new complex next to the now closed Beefy G's. I don't have an opening date yet but we (local yokals) are looking forward to it.

And they just keep comin', folks! Saw mention in the paper today of a planned Wal-Mart for Cozumel.

OK, it's not Playa, but close enough to mention!

OK, here's another opening (or someday opening, at least): anyone know what's going in on 5th at the corner of 10th, next to Tank-Ha and across from Básico? Looks like they're putting in something of size, there, but it's been announced what it's going to be, I've missed it.

I ate there about 4 years ago, and we were not pleased. We also thought it would maintain the same standard as the states. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. It was New Years Eve.

cuffed: How are you doing? Well if we are lucky, they will open a Morton's in Cancun. I much prefer Morton's to Ruth Chris Steakhouse. And you probably know which steakhouse I like the most. Big Al's Buffalo Steakhouse where our motto is " You can't beat Big Al's meat" that is, not without his permission.

Had a great steak at, I believe, Saltgrass in Ft. Worth or Grapevine....
Another in the Southlake town square - fabulous, but can't remember the name of the place. Not a chain....
