Hola from Whistler BC & Puerto Vallarta

Hola Gang, great forum! I am back in Whistler B.C. for the summer after spending the last year or so in Puerto Vallarta where I manage a few wonderful vacation rentals in old town. Missing the carribean and love to scuba etc, so planning on spending a few months (OCT - DEC) in your lovely area. You folks seem like so much fun and your town looks amazing..am very excited about checking out your coast!
Sooooo, a couple of questions. Firstly, a place in which to hang my sombrero. Don't need anything fancy right on the beach (although, that would be amazing if I can get a reasonable deal).. wonder if you know anyone with a reasonable apartment and/or someone that might want to trade some time in PV for a real win/win situation and a change of scenery. (www.stayinpv.com) My plan is to hang in your area until late December, then do some touring south into Central America. The only thing I really need (besides the obvious bed, bathroom, kitchen with blender ) is internet access so I can still look after my rentals.
I am also interested in taking spanish and I see there are some links on your forum already that I will research. Perhaps a home stay would be the way to go?? Embarrassed to say that my spanish is not great.. too much english in PV.
Weather/hurricane season. Is October a nice month.. or iffy with the weather??
Golf - am an avid golfer, but not so avid (or rich!) that I can spend $100 plus on a round of golf. Before hiking my clubs down.. is there anywhere to golf that is reasonable.. or even an opportunity to volunteer on the course or with the club for golf in exchange?
Volunteering - I am also interested in any opportunity to volunteer in the area, I just don't have medical credentials and am not fluent (but I try hard
Basically, I am not a "tourist". I embrace my travels and am on a budget, like most folks who travel for longer than a 2 week holiday. I like to find the "local" spots (not the beach bar with the tablecloth and $13 margaritas like I did when I first arrived in PV!), the happy hours etc etc. This forum seems like a great insiders guide and will be visiting it often. If anyone wants to respond to my questions, I would be most appreciative and will be counting the days until my arrival.
I will likely be travelling alone and will look forward to your meetup nights and meeting some friendly locals and fellow travellers

Happy Happy Summer to all!! Smilee
