Introduction

Hello;
We are in our late 40's and planning a Thanksgiving trip to Akumal. We have never been to Mexico before and have been told that it is safe to travel around in and that an all inclusive is not necessary what do you think?? What about the food and water?
Also, we were told that at that time of year it is the rainy season and that Diving and snorkeling can be cloudy, not a good time to go for this experience - What has anyone experienced?
All your help is appreciated
Bob & Diane

Hi Bob and Diane! Welcome!! Thanksgiving is one of our most popular times of year for visitors to Playa, so I think you'll find snorkeling and diving a great time. We have a weather and wear article that can help you to know what to expect. October, November, and December are my favorite 3 months in the year because the temperature is cooling off a bit from the summer high heat. Who am I kidding? Every month in Playa is my favorite month!

Happy Planning!

Snorkeling can change from day to day, mostly depending on the amount of wind that causes rougher ocean conditions. We had one of our best Akumal snorkling experiences in Nov. as far as clarity goes. Went in May two years ago and it was great, but this year in May was not so good in Akumal. It's pretty hard to predict the future.
