Tex to Mex - First timers

Hi all, We're a family of 5 from Austin, Texas, on the verge of booking our first trip to Mexico. Pretty well decided on Playa Del Carmen, but checking out the forums for advice. (didn't realize how tricky it is finding one room to accomodate two adults and three kids). Onward to the AI / Big resort forums but any suggestions appreciated. Thanks to everyone who makes this a great travel resource! :p

Welcome!

There may be a resort (or 2) that can handle your needs for 2 (two) adults and 3 (three) kids. There was in the past. If I can double check for you and get back on this I will.

So....you haven't made any reservations yet?

I see a bit under $3,000 for 4 nights at Sandos Playacar being correct as well.
Aha !!

Knew of the Palladium as we stayed there in December 2005.

By the way hadleybe,

You can view our pictures of the Palladium by clicking the "View our Mexico Photos" link in my signature. Just look for the Palladium December 2005 album.
VERY nice resort. BIG and can be a bit to walk if the kiddos are really small or just out of stroller age - but nice as you'd ever want. Great pool and restaurant variety. Beautiful open architecture. Long nice beach and they have a good beach club. There are a couple of forum members who go back often - and one who picks the Palladium each year to visit with her grand-daughter.

Try out Mapchick's hotel locator on cancunmap.com. While you're visiting Mapchick's site make sure to order one of her maps of the area which are equivalent to a tour book in map format... they are an invaluable resource when traveling to the area for the first time.
