There's no way to answer this without suggesting you read through a lot of the threads and do some search functions for restaurants. Before I travelled to Playa, I read a lot of the trip reports which specifically mention restaurants, bars, etc.
G'luck and have fun! |

Humans Must Eat
Okay, eating is a necessity. It may or not be the "best" thing you do on this trip, but really try reading some of the threads in the food section (something like changarros and mas in the Forum jump).
Don't limit yourself to one place, even if you are doing an AI. We just were there (In Playa) last week and I am SOOOOOO Glad I used the forum for dining references and though we made it to very few places off the hotel property, those that we did visit were excellent. Carboncitos' Arracherra and salsa platter was the best meal I had all week and it doesn't break the bank. |

Get up. Eat breakfast. Go to the beach and relax. Eat something, drink beer. Back to the beach. Lunch. Find a nice spot and read a book. Drink beer. Back to the room for a shower. Dinner. Drink more beer. Drink tequila. Sleep. Repeat.
Lots of great places to do all of the above. Enjoy! |

1. Walk 5th during the day, stopping here and there to shop a little, drink a little. 2. Walk 5th during the evening, stopping here and there to shop a little, drink a little. 3. People watch from the Tequila Barrel. 4. Meet up with folks at Beer Bucket. 5. Eat shrimp tacos at El Oasis. 6. Chill on the beach. Depending on whether we're solo or meeting up with peeps, could be at Mamita's or, as we did on our last day in March, at El Pirata. El Pirata was quieter and more relaxing, and hanging at the swing bar for a sandwich was soooo nice. 7. Doing the Fat Cat. 8. Going to Cuevo del Chango for breakfast. 9. Going to Akumal Bay to snorkel and see turtles. 10. Taking a Playa.Info tour - we did Tulum & Beyond last year and had an awesome time. 11. Getting in a taxi, giving the driver instructions on where we wanted to go, and then realizing within 30 seconds or so that his English was as bad as my Spanish and that he was heading in the absolute wrong direction from where we wanted to go! 12. Getting bitten by a time share shark's monkey. ![]() |

thanks for the suggestions, will definetly try that. We went about 5 yrs ago and are thrilled to be going back. Can't wait to taste the food again. We're staying at allegro playacar and I hope the beach is in better shape in August, from what I hear it's got erosion.
Thanks again and I'll let you know when I return. |

Easy answer...shrimp tacos at El Oasis....and crab rolls at Babe's....along with a coconut margarita....and of course no night is complete without a piece of pizza from Pizza Pazza on 5th on your walk back to your hotel....
....just some of my favorites....enjoy. ![]() |
