Howdy from Texas
Hi, I'm arriving for my first visit to Playa in just 5 days! Can't wait for my "relaxing" vacation of Spanish classes, Mayan ruins and snorkeling!
We're renting a house close to quinta. Here's a question I haven't seen yet: once you get far enough inland not to see the ocean, what do you use to orient yourself? I'm a map geek, and hate not knowing which direction I'm going when I'm new in town.My last dilemma as I begin packing: trying to decide which ruins to see on the weekend, and which ones to skip class for. If only my life had more dilemmas like this. |

north, south, east, and west are the same as your hometown....avenues parrallel the beach, calles run perpedicular to the beach, the only highway runs parrallels the beach.......but, beware...all of this reverses after 12 tequila shots

More Texans....LOVE IT! I would definately see Tulum...it's close and the views are amazing, then you can go down to the el Paraiso beach and spend the day there. I don't know...to me, anything in Playa is worth skippin' school for but that's why I only know enough Spanish to order a drink, find the bathroon and get myself in trouble! Definately get a mapchick map like TEX said.....and vote! How long will you be down there? |

There are four of us, two of them really are TEXAS chicas, plus me and another Okie (who doesn't have have dual Texas citizenship ). We'll be there for three weeks. Current plans include Coba, Chichen Itza (naturalemente), maybe Merida. I'll check into Tulum, thanks. I figure we'll skip class once a week... ironic, since I'm a teacher!![]() |
