RI Loves Cats
Mandatory Cat Spaying
I think this is way too long in coming. I just hope that it doesn't inspire more bad than good from people who would do cats harm, ie: "it's cheaper to kill them than fix them" way of thinking. |

Damn good idea. There are too many frickin' idiots out there who think all you have to do to own a cat is feed it once a day and let it out to roam at night. When I adopted Eli from the Animal Rescue League, they told me I couldn't take him home until he was neutered which was part of the $80 it cost me to bring the little devil into my life. Susie.... Love the pic of the cat that site showed. Cat in NJ who treed a bear, and then chased it up another tree when it climbed down the first one!! Spunky kitty!![]() |

I'm afraid my Roxy just isn't up to that. She's blind in one eye and has bad teeth, and all the other cats seem to know it. Maybe I can rent one like yours! |

Your right there. Even then, the cat is probably better off in the long run. We always stop at a taco stand in Imuris Mx. on the way down (driving) to San Carlos Mexico. On a stop there about 3 yrs ago, the Wife noticed a shack behind the place. In that shack was an old lady and and 2 yr old girl. I mean this was 4 shts of plywood basically, dirt floor and all. Gayle (wife) hit it right off with the beautiful little girl. Ever since then we always stop, and leave old toys (Granddaughter 2 yrs older!) and whatever. We stopped this past trip on the way down. Nobody was home, so we left a couple bags inside the fence. I look up, and here's this beautiful little orange cat meowing at me, coming right at me. The cat is SO skinny, and small. I estimated it's age at 4 months or so...TINY still. And meowing...still too! He's in luck... I brought along a couple bags of food Tito refuses he eat. (Science Diet, and IAMS Lamb-Rice) I always seem to find some strays to feed in San Carlos. I poured a pile out for him, he dug in, and we left. We stopped back by on the way home, and they were home. Happy to see us, with the little one (Eileen) running and jumping onto Gayle. Before long, I hear this squealing noise... They noticed I heard it...And Eileen takes off into the 'house' and returns with 2 kittens with their eyes just barely open. (actually there was 4 kittens total) She's holding them like toys, and sure enough...bam! She drops one of them, the kitten hits with a thud. But is unharmed. The little orange cat wasn't a 'him'. She was the Momma of these other cats. NO way, I said!! They confirmed it...unbelieveable. I still had the majority of the 2 bags of food left, so I left them there. It's sure a reminder of how lucky we are, Tito included. Rixx |

That reminds me when I lived in my prior neighborhood back in 1998, a neighbor couple houses down had 2 female cats, not fixed, kept having kittens. I was always buying cat food and giving it to the family to feed their cats. The momma cats always brought the kittens to our yard since we had it landscaped which therefore we had plenty of lizards, etc for them to catch and eat.Anyway, we adopted a male black kitten(really just kept one kitten as they did not seem to care much about what happened to them)We moved out of our house into our new house, new neighborhood early June 1998, they got evicted from the house the end of June 1998 and left all the cats behind! We found out when we drove though the neighborhood and spoke to the lady that lived next door to where they had lived. We got our male black kitten fixed as soon as he was old enough and we still have him with two other cats. The other two were adopted from rescue groups and are fixed, all indoor cats!Makes me mad some people really just do not care to really take care of their pets.My coworker has a couple of dogs and one has already had a second litter of pups.Dog is still not fixed. My sister-in-law has taken in a stray cat couple years ago, and recently a stray dog that was dumped by her house.

You can tell alot about a person by how they treat animals! We have two cats, both rescued and have adopted a 3rd, she lives outside and we feed her canned food twice a day, trying to get her where we can touch her and get to the vet . It really peeves me that some people have such low regard for life, any life. Oh well, guess world peace is asking way too much..

It only works on cats... Scruff her, or have someone else scruff her. You hold her behind the head and grab a handful of neck-scruff. Gently (while not letting go completely) squeeze and release (but not completely) the neck scruff every second or so. Most cats relax visibly during this scruffing and you can safely clip away at the nails. You will never have to 'pin the cat' again and the cat doesn't get upset ![]() |
