Ben Roethlisberger in motorcycle accident
Big Ben was in a serious motorcycle accident today in downtown Pittsburgh. Ben is in serious, but stable condition. The early reports are stating they are operating on his jaw and no other information is being given at this time. The surgeon of the trauma center has made minimal statements on his condition other than he is aware of what happened. He was at a busy intersection in downtown Pittsburgh & a car attempted to make a left in front of him. He hit the front passenger side of her car, went over his handlebars, hit the windshield of the car, went over the top of the car and landed on the pavement behind the car. A woman witnessed the accident and went over to Ben as he was trying to get up. She made him lay still until the paramedics arrived. Once again, Ben tried to stand up but couldn't. You may not be aware that there was alot of controversy at the beginning of the year when Ben stated that he does not wear a helmet. All Pittsburghers are very concerned and hope for a good outcome for Ben.

Yea, it will make you think. I used to ride with a guy I dated and I did not wear a helmet. My sister would send me stuff online almost everyday about not wearing a helmet. And finally I realized that you can fix a lot of things on your body, but it is really hard to fix your head.
So I started wearing one.

Today is the one year anniversary of our closest friends motorcycle accident. Without the helmet it would probably be the one year anniversary of his death. He is still recooperating from his brain injury and still has a very long road ahead of him. In a small way but fortunate, she was able to quit work to devote all of her time toward his recooperation. Read the first two sentences again, and reflect.....

Really Not looking to offend those fans of motorcycles or aka "Donor Cycles", but just as there is a law requiring seat belts in most states, there likewise should be one for helmets. The last thing I need to see is a human projectile coming off his chopper and using his head as a pinata. Seriously, it really is terrible that he had his accident, but I won't back down that "most would agree" common sense says you should wear one. Hopefully he recooperates soon and learns his lesson and starts wearing a helmet. Ben was quoted about being "I'll be safe while riding". It doesn't matter how safe you are, it's often "the other guy you have to worry about" ruining your day. |

yeah it was the other guy with our friend. The helmet saved his life. I agree about the seat belt law as well. If I have an accident and hit you, it could mean the difference between hurting you and killing you. Everyone involved is impacted.
Bens injuries sounded pretty gruesome. |

In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear he's alright.
Now, after seeing the replays of his accident, one thing has been confirmed: His head did actually cross the plane of the windshield!
