Renovation Hell
OK..so you think your little projects around the house are alot of work??? HAH!!!! Try having 3 jackhammers drilling through your slab at once.
The dust is flying...I can hardly breathe, the noise is horrendous, and I have piles of dirt and concrete laying in piles all over my house. There is a crew of 7 men...off and on. 2 of them are digging a 2 foot trench between my house and my tree to put in a root guard. After emptying my closet, they decided not to put a pier there I have furniture piled in all the outer perimeters of the house. All the carpets have been pulled back. There will be 12 holes in my house. This is just day 1. This may not be finished till Friday. I have taken pics.....just need to figure out photobucket. Tonight...hotel with jaccuzzi. ![]() Last edited by Seakony : 06-12-2006 at 04:26 PM. |

Hang in there Rita. Went through the torn up house routine after our flood last year. There is an end and if you plan it right ( and I know you will) Your home will so much better than it was. If you need an escape from the noise, try to take a trip to a park by a fountain. Course with all this heat you'll have to do it early in the morning. Give Slim an big hug and go have a great margaarita and think of PLaya!

It is no better up north!
Try renovating an antique house. First of all, jack any price up at least 25% because you (actually, fussy hubby) has to hire a renovator, not a builder. And because fussy hubby wants historically correct materials. Then be prepared for your original job estimate to double once the walls are opened up. Looks great when it's done, but my Yankee sensibilities remain offended. The only reason these antique houses are still around in the first place is because the original owners were too freaking cheap to tear them down and start again. |

This is just the first step of many things to come. We actually want to sell this place and move. I still can't breathe. We will be staying at a hotel nearby for the next few days. Wouldn't want to stumble into a hole during a mid-night tee-tee.
