What kind of animal is this??

Does anyone know what animal this is?
These guys walk around in the tropical garden in Iberostar Tucan. Somebody told me it's a capibara, but I think it's something else. I believe capibara's are bigger. Or is it the Mexican version of the capibara... . Any locals know what it is maybe?

It's called an agouti. They're quite common, even in residential areas. We had several of them hanging around the place we rented in Playacar a few years back.

I thought it was an agouti too...
I know that 'sereque' is a type of cactus that people make sotol (alcohol) from in the Chihuahua desert area. I wonder if they are making fun of the critter by calling it a little dog

Thankx for your reactions. I used google now I know a name and it's an agouti and a Sereque. "Dasyprocta Aguti" is the Latin name for the Sereque. (at least, that's what they say) I was right when I said it's not a Capibara hahaha....
