Long time lurker...First time Poster...RIU Playacar vs. Ibero Paraiso Beach
We are booked 5 nights at Riu Playacar July 24-29th. We have stayed at Ibero Tucan, Riu Yucatan and Palace Las Americas before as well as the Bahia Principe Tulum.
My Question is would it be worth $400 total for the two of us to upgrade to the Ibero Paraiso Beach. We do like the "High Society" feel (top shelf liquors, great service and food, etc. etc.) We are also more Pool people than beach goers. We have liked all the places we have stayed before, but really liked the feel of the Palace las Americas and the Tucan. I would appreciate all opinions... especially those that have stayed at the Paraiso beach or Riu Playacar. Great board...thanks a lot

Well I hope I wont be led out into the courtyard and shot(forumwise)
But we have decided to pay up and go back to the RIU Palace las Americas in Cancun. We really loved this resort our last trip down. We love Playa and the Riviera Maya too, but the Las Americas really was a great vacation. So we paid $540 total "extra" to upgrade. My wife still thinks we are going to the Playacar, so she will be suprised ![]() Thanks for the comments |

Not fer nuttin but you should have just switched to the new Riu Palace Riviera Maya. Beautiful, new resort. Still in Playacar which is of course, NOTHING like Cancun. But if you're into/used to/prefer the whole Cancun thing, Riviera Maya might not have been the best place for you to start with. G'luck!

Yea...considered it, but we know what we are getting into with the Las Americas. We are only staying 5 days this time
We are used to 10 days, but we have a 3 year old and a one year old now so the in-laws wouldnt even go for 7 nights Cant wait till they are a little older so they can go.Back to the point...we are resort homebodies mostly and are not into the Cancun thing at all. Last time we ventured no farther than 500 yards in one direction out the front door. Next time we will go back south...I promise
