Talking Small Town?

While we have a lot of Forum Peeps who live in major centres, it appears there are plenty who call smaller communities home. Perhaps those folks can relate to this...

You know you live in a small town when...

There are no more than three traffic lights in town

Potlucks and high school football games are the social events of the season

You dial a wrong number and talk for fifteen minutes anyway

The cashier in the grocery store holds your baby while you write a cheque

Third street is on the edge of town

Pickups are more common than foreign cars

You speak to each dog you pass by name and he wags his tail at you

You drive into a ditch five miles out of town and the word gets back before you do

Calling somebody a farmer is considered a compliment

You don’t bother using your turn signals because everybody knows where you’re going

The New Years baby is born on April 23rd

You can run a tab at the grocery store

People leave their cars running outside the convenience store while they go inside to buy something, and the cars are still there when they come back

You can’t go for a walk to exercise because every car that passes you offers you a ride

You miss a Sunday at church and receive a get well card

Most people know not only the names of all the children in their neighbourhoods, but they know the names of their parents, their grandparents, the names of the children’s first cousins, the name of the children’s mother’s third cousins...

Every conversation begins with a discussion about the weather

Someone asks how you feel and actually listens to your reply

Everyone in town knows who bought a new car, how much he or she paid for it, how much they got for their trade-in, and which salesperson sold it to them

A kid cuts out of school early and his parents know about it before he gets off the grounds

You mind your parents, you mind your teachers, you mind your neighbours, and you best mind your manners

Yes I can relate. Try the fact that we only have three stop lights in the ENTIRE COUNTY, additionally everybody here knows each others family members because well, they are all related somehow. Good post
