Barcelo Beach side-what is off limits?
Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to this forum but love it so far. We are taking our 2 teenagers-13 and 15 to the Barcelo Maya Beach side next week. I've read where some of the things on the resort are off limits unless you are staying on the Colonial/Tropical side. Could anyone please fill me in on what is off limits other that the Japanese resturant. I can't rememeber the other resturant that is "included". This is the first time we've taken our kids--usually do the couples only thing so want to make sure they have plenty to do. Thanks for any info. Only 8 more sleeps!!! Annie |

There is a lot of information in this area of the board about the Barcelo. I suggest you might want to use the search feature above if you want to read up about this resort. There is also an ongoing discussion where I posted info regarding the differences between the Beach/Caribe side and the Tropical/Colonial side HERE
But in a nutshell - when staying on the Beach side of the resort, you can use all the facilities of the hotel EXCEPT the new Tropical and Colonial air conditioned buffets and ALL of the new ala carte restaurants on the Tropical/Colonial side. The ala carte restaurants that are included when staying on the Beach and Caribe side are El Agave (Mexican) and Don Quijote (Spanish). For a 7 night stay, you get two ala carte dinner reservations. Anything less thna a 7 night stay, you only get one. If you want to dine in one of the new ala cartes one night, it's $15 per person additional. And perhaps if you're lucky, you'll be upgraded to one of the new sections. This has been happening a bit recently. ![]() |
