A Request to Peeps Attending 7/22 or 7/27 Peep Meets

If anyone who plans to attend the 7/22 Peep Meet at Bar Ranita and/or the 7/27 Peep Meet at Tequila Barrel would like to pack a few things to help fulfill the Wish List of Angel Notion, it will be truly appreciated.

The below is taken directly from the Angel Notion website:

· Wish list of Supplies we are need of: School supplies for children back pack, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, compasses, coloring books, English books, small gifts, puzzles etc, Candy isn't really a high priorities.

· Wish list of medical supplies: Wheel chairs electric and standard for children and adults, walkers for children and adults, crutches for adults and children, medical supplies for obgyn, for pediatrician, scales, gloves, numbing patches for children (for iv´s or for taking blood), diabetes testing kits, glasses for adults and children, hearing aids, physical therapy balls and tools, psychology tools for speech disabilities.

· Wish list for the Clinic: Computers that work, lap top for out side work, a camera for digital images of our missions, a projector for showing and teaching, telephone system for the clinic, wireless connection.

I realize that most of us (including me) are not in a position to easily fill the needs listed in the second and third paragraphs, but whatever you can bring along will be wonderful.

I plan to visit Angel Notion during our 7/22-7/29 Playa stay (I've yet to see the place, and I'm really looking forward to it), so I'll bring down whatever is collected on 7/22. Lavonna Redman, the Founder and Director of Angel Notion, is going to try to stop by the 7/27 Peep Meet, so perhaps she can bring back whatever is collected that evening. If Lavonna can't make it or there's just too much to carry (what a great thought!), I'll make another trip to Angel Notion the next day with whatever Lavonna can't carry.

I stopped by Wal-Mart today on the way home from work and had a great time loading up, and the prices there are awesome: 24 ct. Crayola crayons=5 boxes for $1.00; 12 ct. Colored Pencils for $.50/box; coloring books for $.97; construction paper for $1.87; 24 ct. PaperMate pencils for $.97/box. (Oh, David!!! We're gonna have to check 3 bags this trip instead of the usual two!!!)

And if you can bring your items in a bag (as opposed to loose), that would be great and make it easier for David and me to carry everything. And if your bag is a bit on the large side (to help consolidate everything), that would be even better!!!

I'm going to be in Playa July 24th-31st. I am a firefighter/EMT and have some of the medical stuff on hand. Let me see what else I can get. Is there an address I can send some stuff in case I have to much to carry with me?

Wow, EriArtz!!! That stuff would be GREAT!!!

All the Angel Notion info is in their website (click on the link in my signature), BUT.... mailing stuff to Mexico can be a pretty much "hit or miss" (mostly miss) situation from what I've heard. The best way to get stuff there is to have it "muled" (i.e. brought down by a fellow peep who's traveling to Playa). If you think you'll have too much to bring, you could mail to to me (I leave for Playa on 7/22, so you'd have to consider that), and I'll bring it. Heck... we're allowed two checked bags each, and I'm already expecting to bring three, so what's one more bag! I'll PM you my e-mail and mailing address so we discuss it further.

And if for some reason you can't get it to me before 7/21, then I'm sure you could find another peep to mule it down. There are LOTS of helpful peeps in this forum (which is one of the reasons I love this place)!!!

If you Pm me I can bring down whatever extra you have. I am going down July 22 thru Aug 3and although staying in Cancun the first week (I know) I'll be playin in Playa! We have 5 uf us going down so plantey of luggage room available.

I'm workin' on it. We actually trasfer to our condo at the royal haciendas on the 29th, but... you know me if there's party I'm gonna try to be there. Might have to find a room for the nite, anyone, T & C, anyone? KellykK and I are going to be meeting up with Stewart on the 29th, he has no idea of the trouble he'll be in. We'll be travelling the secret beaches during the 2 week so I know I'll be seeing you sometime!

Well like we previously discussed I will be bringing down some things also. Brad wanted to do the one carry on each thing. I talked him out of it.

Smart woman, you are!! I don't know how people do a carry-on each for a week!! Hell..... my sunblock alone would take up 1/3 of it!! And now since I'm bringing Angel Notion items and muling some other things for Playa-residin' peeps, it'll probably be at least 3 checked bags this time for us. But given that we're on a direct flight this time (yippeeee!!!), the odds of any luggage going MIA should be drastically reduced!

If you use courier companies like UPS and FedEX it's fine.

Normal mail is unreliable for a host of reasons, good, bad and sad. We've got to know the postmen here and tip them to ring us when our post arrives at the sorting office. There was only two of them left to cover the whole town when we last visited. They just can't do it all and the pay is too low to keep people in the job for long.
