need quick help
Ok, We had booked the El Mandarin, But Shammy convinced me to not go there.. After listening to her advice and doing some checking out as well, we have chosen to cancel the El Mandarin. ( Thanks Shammy). Now we must re book by 7/8, keeping our seats but just another resort .. To keep it in the same price range.. We have done the big resorts and just returned from the Dominican Republic in June. This trip is for us ( 3 yr old as well), looking at the Club Maeva, or the Sandos PlayaCar...We have to book by tomorrow... Anyone??? Shammy???
Thanks to everyone, KC |

I've read posts on the forum after searching just now....they seem to have been positive experiences for folks in both places. Club Maeva is VERY far south near Tulum....I would think they'd rank similarly....say 4-star each....
I have heard good things about Sandos and kids....they seem to be marketing and catering to families in a big way.... Not a lot of help I know.... Haven't been to either but there are some posts here if you search for "by title" and "threads" you'll get your own feeling for it. For me...I'd pick the resort closer to PDC but that may not be a concern for you. I do know there are some forum folk who have Club Maeva booked for upcoming trips.... |

Is this why I got a call from the folks at El Mandarin this morning yelling at me?
I didn't mean to convince you NOT to go, but you should know about all the construction before you go. Anyway, like Cuff said, Club Maeva is far south but on a great stretch of beach. Know that they are shuttling people staying at Xpu Ha Palace to this beach as there is no beach to speak of at Xpu Ha Palace (Palace Resorts now owns CMT). The beach is large so I don't think there would be a problem, but I guess it's good to know anyway. Sandos Playacar is much closer to Playa and is very family friendly. They share a beach with all of the other resorts in Playacar so not like you're on a "secluded" beach or anything. But it's a decent resort. Can't tell you what to pick - don't want any more phone calls. :pLast edited by Shammy : 07-08-2006 at 01:28 AM. |

Once again, everyoneone is awesome and so helpful.
Thanks to both cuf & shammy for your help & quick response.. Shammy, your insight about the Maeva is so good.. This is why we love & reccomend this site to everyone who considers the PDC area as a vacation. Cuf, thanks for doing research for us. We were doing the same, but knew we could count on the people on this site. It is hard for us to decide?? Thinking the Maeva, because it reminds us of the Barcelo beach.. And the fact we stayed at the Quetzal a few years ago,( loved it and the beach very nice ) next door to the Sandos? However, we loved the Barcelo beach the best out of everyone we have been to . We can drive into Playa... Thanks , KC Last edited by KC Arrowhead : 07-08-2006 at 01:30 AM. |
