Fah Bar = Bad Music
OMG, when will the Fah Bar enter the 21st century? I stayed next door at Posada Freud last week and heard some very awful live music. I read many reviews from people complaining about the noise. Noise wasn't the problem, it was the type of noise. I don't mind loud music at night and actually looked forward to listening to some good live bands. BUT listening to these bands was torture. Bad renditions of 30+ year old songs that dragged on for 15 minutes at a clip. Fah Bar, get with the times. Last year there were some bands that played decent current music and some from the 90s and the place was packed. The music was so bad, the place was hardly half full.
Now I know some of you will think to each his own, but the fact is I do like classic rock but I couldn't handle listening to a bad guitarist so impressed with himself to go on a 10 minute guitar solo that sounded like finger nails on a chalk board. I do feel for the people who stay at the wonderful Posada Freud and have to put up with this. Last edited by psa24 : 07-10-2006 at 09:42 AM. |

I'm not defending Fah (it's actually a place I avoid), but they do have different bands play there (I only know this since I hear them when I'm at the Freud), so maybe you'll like them next time.

When we stayed at PF in 05 it was a nice background noise for laying in the hamock. In 06 however we experienced a similar situation that you did
. They do change bands frequently, so hopefully they will get better musicians in the future after business falls off enough. |

Ok, i'm going to go out on a limb on this one...............I like Fah Bar. I agree that one or two of the bands are truely shocking and a powercut can be a blessed relief. But they also have some great bands that have played there....... Double D were there in Jan/Feb and they are really good (they might still be around, don't know), Los Claxons visited for 3 weeks last June from Monterrey, where they have a record deal. Whenever they were paying, the place was jam paced and it was standing room on the street only, they are absolutely amazing. I know the place has issues, always pay for your drinks straight away and don't run a tab etc, but I like the treehouse design and some of the staff (again i agree not all.........) are absolutely wonderful. Just my 2 cents...

I saw a very good band playing there one time. A lady was playing the fiddle along with a flamenco style guitarist. It was awesome, I kept looking for them again, but unfortunately didn't see them again.
I guess some people may have found that combination odd, but the croud seemed to be really enjoying them and it was spilling out on to the street. |

I'm sure you guys are right about the bands. Like I said when I went to the Fah Bar last year the bands weren't too bad and actually played good music. I haven't been back since due to a pledge I made to a certain somebody (A'ndrea
) so I don't know how they have been since. It's just that I unfortunately was near Fah 7 nights last week and didn't hear ONE good band.I want to make one thing clear. In my original post I in no way meant to convey any negativity toward Posada Freud. I can't speak highly enough of that hotel and its staff. We will definitely return to Freud Fah or no Fah. |
