Thanks for the report Heather. What's up with the tiny clothes by the way? For the most part the Mexicans are not tiny, petite people, so are they trying to sell to touristy teens??? I noticed this is they way it is in the Cancun malls too and at Paseo del Carmen's shops. The normal folks with natural bodies don't seem to be of importance.

It's not easy to be fashionable and "un-tiny" in Mexico. So I just go on huge cheap-clothes-buying-binges when I'm back in the states, with end-of-summer sales at TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshall's, and, one of my favorites, Goodwill (where I find the best brands and certainly the cheapest bargains of all!). |

Susie, SarahB, Libby, and I went to the movies and did some shopping at Centro Maya last night. The McDonald's in the West end of the center is now open, and there is a McDonald's ice cream kiosk in the East end that is open. Yes, I had a cheeseburger.
The movie theater was very nice, stadium seating with chairs that rock and have moveable armrests with cupholders. We all froze to death, though, the A/C was so high. It's only 27 pesos on Wednesdays for one movie, the rest of the time it is 45 pesos. We saw, "The Devil wears Prada," it was ok. |

Centro Maya has really filled up fast
We went in Sept and some of the stores mentioned by Heather were there but not stocked or open. We are going in Nov and have to check it out. Nice shopping center and huge parking lot. I could spend hours in Soriana looking at the Mexican produce and bakery.

Heather, thanks for the list of stores and what they carry. It's especially nice to see they have a couple of stores with nice fabrics in clothes.
Dide you take the bus? Is it from 30th like every other bus, and is it marked Centro Maya? Bus fare still 5 pesos? Thanks! Caroline |

You're a good commuter, I've never taken the in-town buses . I either walk or taxi or get a ride. To Centro Maya, I've been there with Susie's private car and M.'s truck, then I've also taken a taxi back. Taxi back cost 35 pesos (I think).
