Centro Maya is Open!!

It is a great day for me because I have been anxiously awaiting this opening!!

Centro Maya, Playa's new mall has opened today! It is located on Hwy. 307 across from our new hospital, Hospiten.

It is a beautiful new mall and the anchor grocery store, Soriana, is fully stocked and open for business. Of the other 100 stores that are promised, only a handful are open now.

I love that Soriana has a salad bar!!

There are signs on each space with the name of the future tenant and there are lots of them!! We also saw a large food court- not yet open though.

It is impressive and I can't wait to go back!
Here are some photos.

Yippee!!! I am SO excited about Soriana! And it looks like a bunch of other great places will be there too. Excellent photojournalism there, Kittie - thanks!

Only because we live close by and we have been waiting and watching- knowing it was getting close to opening!
Randy ran out for some errands and came back in saying, "Come on, it's open!" So, I grabbed the camera and off we went!!

Most of my photos were blurry- I was so excited, I couldn't steady the camera!!

A real mall right here in Playa. Yes, I know there will be many posts from those that cry because Playa is changing and they don't want a mall here.
That's OK- you don't have to go- many of us "locals" are really happy to have more options for shopping.

If supermarkets keep opening at the current rate, we will soon have more superstores than silver shops!

Thanks for the photo scoop!

My earlier post lists the shops. Not all of the ones in the list and shown on the actual 'awaiting' shops are finalised.

FYI: Centro Maya also built 'La Isla' in Cancun and 'Paseo del Carmen' at the start of 5th. They also own other shopping centres around Mexico.

I bought something at Mega that I thought was going to be like Cool Whip...and it was, if Cool Whip was thick and tasted faintly of sweetened lard.
