Catamaran Trips- I have choices but no opinions...HELP

I was looking for a catamaran trip to take me to Xaac. I found 2 catamarans that will help me. FAT CAT - (PDC) and Robinson Caruso - (Akumal). Anyone been on these trips? Is one better than the other? Should I rent something else to get to Xaac?

Help - I will be there Feb 13 - 23

Monte

Having just returned from Playa (okay, a month ago) and taken the most fabulous Fat Cat trip of all time, I highly recommend Fat Cat!

Seriously, we had a terrific time, the crew was great, and I think it just can't be beat. Next time I'm in Playa, I'll probably schedule another Fat Cat trip.

We were on the same Fat Cat trip with Becky a month ago and also had a blast! So much fun that we did the trip all over again the following week when our friends and their children joined us in Playa. And it was just as much fun the second time around! We highly recommend the Fat Cat trip and would definitely do it again!

The last post providing links to the Fat Cat was incorrect, as it pointed to a portal about Playa del Carmen. We don't link to other portals in this forum.

The real website for Fat Cat is here.

As has been mentioned, this trip is scheduled to be made available, with value added, via this site's reservation system. We're actually late on launching that one (can you believe it?) but the backend machinery is written, so the wait shouldn't be long.

When it's available here, there will, of course, be some discount or added value available. Such a deal!

 Sorry about the mixup.... I didn't mean to lead people a-stray. Can I use the playacard down there for this catamaran trip and get a discount? I will be there Feb 13-23.

Just a wondering.

Sorry James.

no worries.

This is tentative, but I think that the discount for FatCat (doing something like including the transport for free, getting a free tshirt, or getting some money off) will be available to everyone that books via PlayaInfo.

Can you book the Fat Cat when in PDC ( I assume yes), where are they located? We are down in Feb travelling with friends so it will be easier to co-ordinate a day to go once there!

I haven't. I think MunichChick has taken it and liked it. If you mix a catamaran with Xaac and the Caribbean, you are bound to end up with something pleasant.

Always catamaran !

Hi everyone,

When i was in PDC, i noticed that the only way to do sailing was "catamaran".

What about "the potential market" for regular sailing boat 40 feets long? Is it because of the reef along the coast that no "monocoque" appears?

You know, after 10 days by the sea in PDC, some projects appears in my brain, far away from winter reality.

Sorry for my strange, not fluid english.

After reading a few comments on here, looked up the R.C. cat trip. Boy that looks like fun as well. Not a very long trip, but interesting, considering the fishing and all. Might have to try that one in the second week there, after the FAT CAT one. Oh.....such much to do..so little time... 8)

So if I go on the Fat Cat (or any boat tour) when I am in PdC May 17-24, will I need Dramamine?

Or is there something better than Dramamine? (I live 700 miles away from the nearest ocean, so I am not up on my seasickness medication.)

What about Xaac? Is it still only reachable by boat or did that golf course in the "Bad news about Xaac" thread go in?

Does Jason (the Fat Cat sales manager, who responded on that thread by Landreau about the complaint about there only being chips.) still "lurk" here?

This is going to sound like a crazy idea; but here's what Fat Cat or whichever company should do:

My wife has lost 13 kilos/30 pounds on the Atkins diet. I have lost 5 pounds, 2 kilos; but I tried Micheloeb Low Carbohydrate beer and it is only good for killing snails. Yes, the Atkins diet is wacko; but it worked for her.

Fat Cat could offer chorizo, nuts or some other snack low in carbs. Offering more variety in snacks would cut down on complaints. OK, I can see how you would not want customers who are so strange they think the Atkins diet works. But you never can tell.

Make sure you're used to taking Dramamine - if you haven't taken it before, then just try it at home, and make sure you don't have to drive! The first time I took it, it totally knocked me out and I went to sleep for five hours! So I didn't feel sick... because I was ASLEEP! (Luckily it was a long and boring car journey.) You wouldn't want to fall asleep on your Fat Cat trip!

I usually look for herbal motion sickness capsules - perhaps try your local health food store. They usually contain ginger, and you should take them 30-60 mins before you get on the boat. I found these to be effective on a three-day trip on a racing yacht. Also, you'll probably find that you'll get used to the motion anyway. The worst part of a boat trip is usually getting out of the choppy water in the harbour.

catamaran tours

I have been on both the fat cat and the robinson c. cruise

fat cat = bigger boat, more people, chips (I loved those chips),fruit
drinks, kimba the snorkeling dog, boom netting, snorkleing
includes transp. to puerto adverntuas for 71. nice plus is kids are 35
and you do it thru here you get the t shirt.

robinson cruso = smaller boat (did this 2 weeks ago) there were only
6 of us on the boat. we went to the same place to snorkle as fat cat
goes (where the burned out drug boat is) we could fish along the way
with only six on the boat...we were looking to catch lunch
had some bites but caught nothing..they brought fish and we had grilled fish lunch anyway along with chips slasa and chevicce (don't know
if spelled right or even correct name but fresh seafood in lime juice and
other vegetables stuff) all the fish we could eat. the drinks were
beer and if there was anything else i didn't see it. this was 60.
but we had to get down to akamal

Cat Food

Hi guys

Thanks again for your kind comments about the Fat Cat. We are trying very hard to make sure you all have a great time with us.

Regarding the food comments, we are looking at ways of enhancing this aspect of our tour so keep em peeled on Playainfo for any updates.

I will continue to "lurk" among these pages just to make sure everything is okay. I really enjoy getting your feedback and passing it on to the crew.

If anyone wants more info you can get hold of me through this forum . My username is "Jason" funnily enough.

Take care all.
