I was watching the news early Saturday , knowing that the other sample would be the same. Of course it was.
................... I just dont know what to think, being a former semi-pro team member. I'm sad of course but cycling has been rife with every kind of doping imaginable as far back as I can remember. Including the infamous "la bombe" in riders water bottles. The trainers would pass to the riders the last hour to give them a little something 'extra' for the finish. ................ The testosterone enhancement was brought to a high level by the Germans during olympic competition quite a few year back. I thought that was too old school but it looks like it never died completely out. .................... The hemoglobin enhancement brought about by EPO is another thing. A crit over 50 will make a pos on that stuff but there are some hight normals found. Riders have died due to the blood being basically too thick to move through their system .................... The adding of previously drawn blood was a big ongoing thing in the time of Greg LeMond also and there were a few people fired/banned for that. ....................... Yes, It is true that Americans were basically hated in cycling but a lot of that attitude changed with Lance. There are MAJOR rabid fans in cycling and they will of course back a winner and have been known to spit on people they didnt like. .................... Floyd has some other avenues he can explore on this matter but I think that a two year ban is in his future. That being said, that gives him some time for a hip replacemtnt and post-op rehab.. I'm still trying to research if any cyclist has ever come back from that type of operation to winning form........ islandtime Last edited by islandtime; 08-06-2006 at 07:12 AM.. |

on ya, but after reading this initial post, I can't get the picture of James prancing happily through a large field of wild daisies while wearing a wreath of flowers left over from Midsommer's Fest outta my head.....I tell ya.... It's the stuff of future nightmares. |

If you really believe that you are innocent, there is nothing to be gained from making your case in the press. All you can do is throw wild conjecture out there as to how your Testosterone levels could have tested so high. Once you do that, the press is right there to slam you on all of your "outlandish theories". On the negative side, if you are guilty but still profess your innocence, the press is not your friend. Either way, guilty or innocent, Armstrong recommends you avoid the press and lay low. I can't say that I disagree with this thought process. |
