Jungla Caribe info?

Does anyone have a web site and/or an email address for the Jungla Caribe. It seems to have decent word-of-mouth but I can't find much info on it. The web site address that I've found, www.jungla-caribe.com, doesn't seem to work.

As well, has anyone stayed here? I'd love to hear feedback.

Cheers!

Jan. 30/03 -- Nevermind! The link is working now. But read-on. If anyone has feedback on the other hotels I'm looking for info on that are in my next post, I'd love to hear about it!

Jungla Caribe

Hmmm. That website worked when I clicked on it, so maybe give it another try.

We haven't stayed at Jungla Caribe for a few years, but we did stay there several times and liked it. It's on Av. 5 a block off the beach, and right in the heart of things ... perhaps too much in the heart of things, as there is a lot of street noise at night. Many of the rooms have a little balcony where you can sit and watch the action. If your room has a/c (I think most of them do), you can keep the windows closed, which muffles most of the noise. There's also t.v., which helps mask the sound from outside. Now, it's not as if you're next door to a disco, and we were never really bothered by street noise -- you hear it at most Quinta hotels. I'm just mentioning it in case you're particularly sensitive to that sort of thing.

Some rooms have two double beds and a sofa that can serve as a bed, so you can pack the family in. Others are kind of romantic and treehouse-like. They do neat things with tile and shells. The interior courtyard is lovely and the food is good.

We always felt it was a good value, and I'd stay there again.

Go figure!

Thanks for the info Peggy Sue.

Murphy's law though. I've been trying that site daily for about a week now with no luck, including JUST before I posted the message. Nothing like Murphy to make a girl feel stupid!

I'd love to say noise isn't an issue but if we have a choice, we'd rather have it a bit quieter. We're looking for a place with a kitchen as well and as long as it's clean and central, we're not too fussy about decor, etc.

I've been perusing this board for a while now gathering names and info on other hotels. Some names that sound like they're worth considering are Eclipse, Rosa Mirador, Kinbe, Lab Nah, Phantom Paradise, Posada Freud, Riviera del Sol and Treetops. Do you know much about any of these? There are many references on the board to some of them and not many on others.

Cheers!

I was also able to connect to the Jungla Caribe web site without any connection problems.

As for other hotels, if a kitchen is a necessity and noise is of concern I highly recommend the penthouse at Posada Freud....you can do a search and read my review on the penthouse. The regular rooms at Posada Freud can be noisy depending on which one you are in. We stayed for a week in the one that is located right on La Quinta and it is noisy. The other rooms located on the side or the ones located back by the courtyard should be much quieter (like the penthouse) because of their location. The rooms do not have kitchens, however, some do have a refrigerators.

Good to know

denisea --

Thanks for the info on Posada Freud. It does look great on their web site and it's good to know that you have a positive review of it.

I've emailed them with a couple of questions and am just waiting for a response.

Cheers!
