Here in Connecticut, we're in the 6th day of a heatwave, with heat index expected to hit in the hundreds today and tomorrow.
Spent most of the afternoon yesterday in the pool, and polished off a blender and a half of margs. Today is simply ghastly. Tried the pool, but the sun is way too hot on it right now. Had a Mango Smoothie for lunch. What's going on with everyone else? |

Too hot for the pool here too. Well...I should say it's too hot for me to go out and skim/vacuum it! I went food shopping at 7 AM so that I wouldn't have to go out any more. I have a 7 PM class at the gym - bet the A/C in that place will never be cold enough (never is even when it's not like hell on earth outside).
WAY too hot for the beach too. My poor 80 year old dad works at the beach checking badges. I asked him not to go, but he said he had to (he didn't). He doesn't drink water either - and you know how old people are, the heat can sneak up on them. I just hope he's ok. Anyway........... Just posted this in the What's Your Temp thread: AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 PM EDT THURSDAY. A DANGEROUSLY HOT AND HUMID AIRMASS WILL BE OVER THE REGION THROUGH THURSDAY. TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE AROUND 100 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON... 100 TO 103 DEGREES ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON... AND IN THE UPPER 90S ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THE HUMIDITY SHOULD CAUSE HEAT INDEX VALUES TO RISE TO AROUND 110 ON TODAY ...110 TO 115 WEDNESDAY... AND 105 TO 110 ON THURSDAY. THERE WILL BE LITTLE RELIEF FROM THE DANGEROUS HEAT AT NIGHT WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO DROP ONLY TO 75 TO 80. |

It's gruesome here. Yesterday it was 98 degrees. That tied the record set in 1917. It's just so blasted humid and sticky. It's not supposed to get any better until Thursday. Not my idea of enjoying summer, which is way too short here as it is.

I was at our gym/sports medicine facility today (physical therapy on rotator cuff tendonitis) and their A/C was NOT working! It was ungodly hot in there! It is still in the 90's with dew points into the upper 70's and there were people working out in the gym! I was there one time last summer too when the air was not working and it was so hot and it wasn't even in the 90's or even close but it was still very, very hot in there. I didn't stay long that day. Storms tonight should cool off things here for tomorrow. |

Hot here in Chicago. Walked the dog last night at 9:30 and it was still oppressively hot.
Rode my bike this morning at 6:30 and was surprised at the heat. By the time I was off the bike at 8:00 it was just plain gross out.

I am having brain freeze from a blenderful of pina coladas on my back porch. That's health maintenance! :p
