Look at what you guys did at the 7/22 & 7/27 Peep Meets for Angel Notion!!!
As many of you know, I put out the word in my two Peep Meet threads that I'd be collecting items for Angel Notion at the Peep Meets if anyone wanted to bring something on the Angel Notion "wish list".
Well, you guys REALLY came through BIG time. When David and I left the La Ranita Peep Meet on 7/22, David had to sit in the front of the taxi because the back seat was full of donations...and me! There was no room for him! And the same thing happened after the Tequila Barrel Peep Meet, only this time the taxi driver popped the trunk so we could store all the loot. Before we called a taxi to bring us to Angel Notion on Friday morning, we decided to unpack everything and take some pics to show you all just how much you did! Be proud of yourselves, you guys!!!! You deserve a big pat on the back (and a HUG from me too!!) This photo says it all. Look at all those donations!!! ![]() ![]() David taking pics of the goodie-strewn bed. ![]() Look at all those packets of loose-leaf paper and coloring books and construction paper! This also shows the Compaq laptop that “Vieve” (Genevieve) contributed. I also asked the monkeys to make up a bunch of Nerak necklaces for the kids (which they made with the stretch polymer cord to prevent any potential injuries from happening). ![]() Check out all the medical supplies that “EriArtz” (Ericka) brought with her and Tony from St. Louis. Also... I feel bad cuz I don't remember who brought them, but a peep whose mother works for an eye doctor brought a whole slew of bottles of contact lens drops and wetting solution. Thank you!!! ![]() ![]() Check out the ½ dozen diabetes blood sugar readers that “Tgrlily” (Renee) brought to the Tequila Barrel Peep Meet. Sammy, Renee’s 13-year-old daughter, has Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes and donated the monitors she no longer needs (she’s got a waaay kewl pump now that she showed me). Thank you so much, Sammy!!! ![]() I tell ya…… David and I kept exclaiming, “I can’t BELIEVE all this stuff!!!!” as we were emptying out all the bags and bags and bags and backpacks and backpacks and backpacks that the peeps brought to those two Peep Meets. I also received a box at home before I left from “Jflattracker” full of school supplies, including that cute pink outfit hanging off the top of the headboard. I didn’t keep track of who brought what, but I guess that really doesn’t matter. What matters is that the kids who come through Angel Notion will benefit from the fact that so many of you decided to lug down extra pounds of stuff to help people you’ll never meet. And I feel truly touched that once again you decided to entrust me to get your donations into the hands of the good people at Angel Notion. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yep. I’m wearing my PJ’s, and I’ve got bedhead. But I wanted you all to see how totally thrilled I was to see all these things and know that David and I were soon going to pack ‘em up and deliver them to Angel Notion. ![]() ![]() Here are the eleven backpacks donated, all waiting to get filled up. It's a good thing so many people donated the backpacks cuz it made it a lot easier for us to get everything downstairs and into the taxi. ![]() Here’s all the backpacks and duffel bag packed to the brim with all the goodies. ![]() A special THANK YOU to Claudia for writing down the address in Spanish for me to give to the taxi driver. As it turned out, he still got a bit confused and first stopped at another clinic next door to Angel Notion! Here we are at Angel Notion. Only two people spoke any English – a doctor named Phillipe to whom I made a point of showing all the medical items, and another visiting doctor from Toronto who was spending her sabbatical helping out. The remainder of the folk were a combination of Angel Notion employees and women/kids who just happened to be there for Angel Notion services. As I said, the language barrier made it impossible to communicate, but smiles and hugs and “Mucho gracias!!”s were easily understood and appreciated both ways. ![]() ![]() The woman in the red top is holding a package containing a Nerak necklace I had made for Lavonna. I guess she felt it was Lavonna's way of being in the photo with us! The two doctors there that day were Phillipe on the left next to David and the woman in the blue dress on the right. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, Lavonna Redman, the founder and director, wasn’t there, but we still got to get a photo of her (well, a photo of a photo of her anyway!!) ![]() These kids were so cute! I kept teasing the boy with his gelled, spiked up hair by pretending to hurt my hand and on his hair when I patted him on the head. Smiles and laughter span any language barrier every time!! ![]() I took a walk around the outside and snapped a few pics. Not sure what the mound of dirt is all about. But they’ve certainly done their best to make the best of their yard area, and there were some very pretty potted flowers here and there. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Soon it was time to say “adios” and be on our way when the taxi arrived. The driver very nicely took a group shot before we left. ![]() THANK YOU AGAIN to everyone who helped out Angel Notion with your contributions. And a special “thank you” from me…… I swear I had a grin from ear-to-ear for HOURS after we returned from dropping those items off at Angel Notion. You guys really helped make this trip for us to Playa very special by enabling David and me to do what we did. ![]()

I'm not kidding... I was on this weird kind of "natural high" for HOURS after we dropped all that stuff off. I couldn't keep myself from grinning. People at Grand Coco Bay must've thought I was drunk before noon!
You guys made it happen. All David and I did was get the stuff there. |

Great job and much praise go to Karen & David for their dedication and committment - you should take great satisfation in knowing you are truly wonderful people!
It is one thing to give badly needed items so that those less fortunate can benefit, but it is over and above to give your precious time to make sure all the love gets to the right places. Congrats to all who helped out - what a truly selfless thing to do |
