Hola from Don and Nita

Hullo everyone!

We are so excited to be visiting the Playa area this year! We have been to the other side of the Caribbean before and to the west coast of Mexico since we were born and raised in San Diego but never to this side.

We will be there in early October (2206) and we thought we'd just introduce ourselves and see if we might pick your brains (yech) beforehand. I'll search the site for answers before I post questions.

I am a bus driver but for many years I was a musician and together Nita and I just love to have fun and perhaps learn a thing or two about where we go. We both speak a little spanish. (Probably just enough to get into trouble)

Can't wait to join you in paradise!

Thanks! :)

Thanks so much for replying!

Ok questions

1 I understand that some beaches require "eco friendly" sunscreen. Any recommendations for sun screen. Also what bug repellent do you think is best?

2 Favorite snorkle spot? I promise not to tell anyone..... Snorkling on St. Thomas last year was the highlight of our vacation lives. Or just what is an over looked/must do thing for the Playa area?

3 I have a lifelong fascination with all things archaic (sp?) I'd love to take in some ruins. In particular Chichan Itza is one in that general neck o the woods that I think would be really interesting. But... We have only 1 measly day (this time) to spend. Worth our 1 day?

We are allready fairly certain that we will return for at least a week next year and stay at ....

4 Where?.....

5 Finally.... If you are travelling in a spaceship at the speed of light and you turn on the headlights... Do they do anything?

I ask a lot of questions.....

Can't wait to join ya!

#1 most eco parks and cenotes ban sunscreens, like Xel-ha, Xcaret, yal-ku lagoon and all the cenotes.

#2 Akumal is the best for snorkeling .. I like the bay best, then yal-ku lagoon then Halfmoon bay. You can rent a car or catch a colectivo. it's about 20 minutes south of Playa. Or you can take a ferry to cozumel. do alot of searching on snorkeling..and there will be alot

This site provide the best tour to chichen Itza... yes it is all day but well worth it. very small group, personal attention, a stop at a cenote, and lunch in Valladolid. The Tulum and beyond is also a great tour. I have taken many tours years ago and they can't come close to the quality of the tours this site offers.

#4 most of the hotels are good....this site can also set you up and you get a free deal card with it.

#5......beats me

I see....

Thanks for the replies!

So some of the best snorkle spots ban ALL sunscreens or do they require eco friendly products. I ask this because, we live in the pacific northwest and if I go out in the direct sunlight all the moss on my legs will dry up and get brown...

Thanks,

Don and Nita
