Just wanted to mention that this is not just a big garage sale, but a celebration, too! There will be areas for kids to paint/color, there will be music, and of course the gorgeous view of the Sea!

I will be there as a volunteer, if anyone wants to stop by to say, "hi." They are still looking for volunteers, so if anyone wants to go with me, give me a call. If you live here, you probably have my number, or know someone who does.

See you Sunday!

Angel Notion Gran Bazar has a TERRIFIC day!

Well, the sale of the furnishings from El Faro went VERY WELL. The sale started at 8 am. By 9.20 am, nearly everything was gone. It was madness: mattresses and lamps and desks and nightstands and bed bases. And ultra-hot, too. PHEW! Once that was over with, we got to PARTY on the beach. Looking around yesterday at the local families enjoying the day, listening to the music, watching the dancers and other entertainers, I had one of those epiphanic moments where I remembered, again, why I love living in Playa del Carmen. Multi-cultural people living in harmony in a physically stunning place. Anyway, here are some photos:

Here is a calmer moment, when there was still some furniture left:

Ladies selling tamales during the sale:

Angel #1 Lavonna, with Heather from Ciao Gelato. Heather donated some of her delicious ice cream to sell. True story: I'd never had the pleasure of meeting Heather before yesterday, so when I did, I told her that people are always asking me, "Are you Heather from Ciao Gelato?" She said, "That's funny because people are always asking me, "Are you Heather from Playa.info?" :

Manning the information booth, where I spent my afternoon:

Corona donated a lot of beer and tents, where vendors cooked up sausages and hamburgers to feed the hungry crowd. All the vendors donated 50% of their proceeds to Angel Notion:

Volunteers manning the taco stand:

There was even a woman painting faces under one of the tents. She was very popular with the kiddies, and the kids at heart:

This little guy was so proud when I called him Spiderman and asked him if I could take his picture:

The entertainment was fantastic! Here you'll see the dancers in their meso-american costumes reenacting ancient rituals. I can't believe they had so much energy in the heat, and wearing all that body paint and feathers!

Hey, dude, whatcha got under that loincloth?

Some dancers from the dance school near Shangri La (I can't remember their name, does anyone know?) performed a lot of different types of dance. Here, the girls are doing some miming. They also did belly dance, Indian dance, and some contemporary dances. They were a big hit with the fellas, for sure:

The crowd enjoying the terrific entertainment on a gorgeous, hot Sunday:

My favorite little audience member:

I could not figure out how this guy could walk and even DANCE on his stilts in the sand:

Wow! That's looks like a great day. Sorry we couldn't make it downtown. Some of us needed some "quiet time" after Zenon's party. I'm not mentioning any names......... Rob.

Fantastic report Heather (from Playa.Info ).

I really enjoyed the pictures too!

They must use some kind of special paint cause in that heat - don't ya think it would melt right off of those (hot ) bodies?

Just spoke with Lavonna from Angel Notion. She said that while they didn't reach their hoped-for fundraising goal, they still had a wonderful day and they really appreciate all the community has done to rally around Angel Notion. I'm thinking maybe I can come up with some ideas for local Angel Notion fundraisers on a smaller scale, to perhaps help make up the difference. Peeps three-legged pub race, perhaps?

These are great pictures, Heather. It is so wonderful to see so many people volunteering and supporting such a great cause. Sonia's little Ana is so beautiful. She's gotten big!
