Yes, it helps to live in Texas, as Playa (i.e. Cancun/Cozumel airports) is only 2 hours away, so it's easy to do long weekends trips, particularly on the charters, which are frequently only $99 RT plus taxes from here.

But also, there is an old saying around these here parts, to the effect that, when you are on your death bed, no one ever says "I wish I had spent more hours at the office."

We drive about 4hrs so we can get a nonstop 3hr flight from Saint Louis. How crazy is that. Anywaywe try to go about 4 times a year. I don't work but my wife trys to plan her vacation time around holidays long weekends to conserve on vacation days. We try to get bargains thru MLT or Funjet.

we liked to go once a year. in 2004 we drove there to stay a few months. airfare from here isn't so cheap and its a long and nasty flight...

we have decded very recently that playa will be on the backburner for awhile. we want to see other places...costa rica, cuba, hawaii, south pacific, europe, thailand....our next trip will be family oriented, mainly for the kids - Florida for the theme parks and the keys.

First time was December 2005.

Followed by Cancun. Met a girl from Texas.

Then February 2006 for Valentines Day (I know!) and my birthday.

Florence (Italy) and London in April 2006 (we HAD to see each other again).

June 2006 I moved to Texas from London.

July 2006 in Playa again.

I like Playa and love Texas.

How do I afford it? Sold my house in 2004.

Well, the money is running out but I should be able to squeeze another trip in later this year.

Paul

Once a year...*sigh* I would love, love, love to go more often, but I'm not independently wealthy and I have other travels I do within the United States, even mini-weekends up to the Cities. My family lives in Kansas so I now travel there to see them for Holidays, etc.
However, after being a member of this forum, I now seem to be planning my trips around other peoples trips (Peepfest) so I can spend that time with my Real Fake Friends. And I wouldn't miss that for anything!

Would love to go more than once a year - but for now that's it. I have been able to up it to 10 days instead of a week - next year I'm shooting for two weeks.

The first year we went once. Last year we went twice and we are getting ready to do trip #2 this year. We go once by ourselves to celebrate our anniversary and then later in the summer with the kids for the family vaca.

How many years until you get to say it like it happens every year?

Would love to hear the trip repot when you get back.
We try and make it once a year to Playa - not nearly enough! We are hoping to bring our two daughters to Playa this winter.

we try to go as often as possible. so far, in the last 23 months, we have been to playa 46 times.
we would go more often but the only airlines that offer the flights to Cancun from Albany are Plummet Air and Air Chance. Now, you can understand our hesitance about going more often!!!!!!!

We only go once a year but make the most of it by staying 10-14 days. Since air is our biggest expense it doesn't cost that much more to stay the extra days.
