Getting logged out

I just posted a reply. I was logged in, according to your info in the upper right corner, but when I hit the submit button I got the message that i was not logged in and could not post. The worst part is that the whole message, which was full of links and suggestions for the OP, just disappeared.

This has happened frequently. Apparently I get logged out but am not informed, then the message disappears when i try to post.

I'd like to know if there is any way to retrieve a message when this happens. I know i should copy it before posting but i forget.

I understand that there may be reasons for getting logged out, but it would be nice if I could at least not lose the message.

I have a Mac if that has anything to do with it.

I love the board, Thanks, 2QRoo

Why don't you activate the 'remember me'-button when logging in? I am never logged out... If it happens that you are logged out, did you try the 'back'-button of the browser to retrieve what you wrote?

Hope this helps,
Andrea

Perhaps it's a good idea to write your post in Notepad or something simple like that. Especially when it's a longer post which might take you 20+ minutes.
You can log in after you've finished writing and then copy->paste the text.
Pretty easy.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did try using the back button but just got the error page. And I've checked the 'remember me' box but for some reason it doesn't remember me. Probably a Mac problem.

I should just use the notepad concept....

I work only on Macs and have never had this issue. I use the "remember me" option and am never logged out. Perhaps it's a cookies issue with your browser? Make certain that your browser is set to accept cookies from Playa.Info. Clear any existing cookies for Playa.Info. Then try logging in using the "remember me" option. And as Teezet has already mentioned... when typing long detailed posts it's typically best to compose them offline... or highlight and copy what you've typed before hitting the submit post button, that way if you do get logged out, you can simply paste what you just typed into a new post (which is what I often do just to be safe).

hit backspace. your post should still be there in the edit box.

anyway, this happens on ANY cookie-based system unless you request to remain logged-in (at least those that respect your privacy, like our site)

in any case, this is covered on the sign-up agreement and also on the announcement.
