May's not arriving fast enough!!!

Hello All!
I was so happy to have found this site...the forum is WONDERFUL! Thanks to you all for taking the time to share your knowledge and opinions. I just wish that I'd found a few weeks sooner, because being the pre-planner that I am I've already made our reservations for next May. My dear husband takes me on vacation every year for my birthday and I love having something to look forward to, so I usually start planning for the next year's birthday vacation...IMMEDIATELY! He's a special guy for putting up with me.

We first visited Playa in 2004 and had a wonderful time at the Riu Palace Mexico. Our goal at that point was to relax and escape from our stressful lives - I'm happy to report that that's exactly what we did. However, there were so many things that we didn't do while we were there that we vowed to return within a few years.

When planning our 2007 trip, we went back and forth, trying to decide on a place to stay and finally decided to just return to the Riu Palace Mexico...mainly for the wonderful palms on the beach. I hate to go back to the same place twice, but to be perfectly honest, I was driving myself insane reading all of the reviews on other resorts, and knew that the Hubby liked the Riu, so the Riu it is!

We enjoyed going into Playa for dinner several nights while we were there last time and plan to do so again. It'll be fun to follow all of the posts to determine which restaurants we'll want to try.

We want to return to Tulum (I loved it there, but we had gone on a tour through the resort and were only able to explore for about 45 minutes ). Also, we'd like to do some snorkeling, but I injured my back this past Jan. and don't know if I'll be able to explore the cenotes. Finally, we will definitely be going to Chitzen Itza for a day. We considered renting a car for a few days during our stay and do some things on our own, but I don't know if we will or not. If we decide not to, I'm sure that we'll be taking advantage of the tours offered by!

Thanks again, everyone!

Another obsessive compulsive planner

We have been to Playa twice and absolutely love it. We've gone with friends and by ourselves and decided we prefer alone better, move at our own pace which is slow unless we're headed to the bar. Haven't been able to go the last two years and I've just about drove my husband insane.
Finally booked for January and no it can't get here fast enough. I'll probably be on this forum daily for the next several months reading every tidbit of information. Hopefully I'll get to finally meet some of the peeps on here that I feel I know, even though I've mainly lurked.

Don't know that we'll do too may excursions, but the Fat Cat definitely sounds like fun. Jay went deepsea fishin last time and probably will have to do that again.

I have truly missed the friendly people and awesome beaches of Playa!
