Best Late Night Bar/Club

Thanks to evryone for all of the good info. One thing that I was curious about is which bars or clubs if any stay open really late, like after 3AM and which ones do you guys recommend? Also, for a during the day beach bar scene I was planning on checking out Mamitas unless anyone has any other suggestions. Thanks!

I like La Pirata on the beach at about calle 12 but their closing time is inconsistent. La Santanera on calle 12 between 5 and 10 is a good bet and very popular.

I would have to say Santanera! One of my favorites.
I also heard that Bali (across from Santa) is opening again this month. They are both open untill 5 or 6. And then there is always an after party going on somewhere.

I agree with Michele. El Pirata is where I like to go after hangin out at Sharky and Capt Ron's Beer Bucket or La Ranita (both located on 10th st. between 5th and 10th ave.)! Laid back, good music and you can kick back, put your toes in the sand, and take in the ocean and the stars! It is usually open till 4am, and then La Santanera is really the only other place to go to, if you are going for an all nighter. Mitch the tour guide

We just stayed at Villas Sacbe, and let me tell you, it was rockin when I got up a few times around 3 or 4 AM. on calle 12 towards the beach.

Anyone have any info on Mambo? Isnt that a late dancin place? I have never been by there when it is open. Heard it opens at 11p.m. or so.

We went to Mambo when we were there. We enjoyed making fools of ourselves on the dance floor. I think we left around 2 and it was still pretty packed.

Mambo café is open from 10 to 4 am closed on mondays

I have spent alot of time out late in Playa.... Santanerra or El Pirata would be my choice for late night / early morning fun and frolicks!

Do taxis run that late? I think we will be stuck at the Grand Mayan, but we want to go out at night in Playa....

Taxis do run late here, but just to be on the safe side you could carry arround the number for a taxi driver to get you in case you can´t find one on the street.
Taxi sindicate 8730032 or a driver Adolfo 044 984 7453017 those are 2 I have, most taxi drivers carry celular phones with them so you can either arrange for a pickup time beforehand or get a number from your driver when they pick you up.
Make sure you agree on the price too.
