"A Chef in Mexico"

Those of you how know me know full well that anything I'd post about cooking would HAVE to be a joke.

But this isn't. Stumbled across this interesting article about Jacques Pepin on today's MSN home page.

Ah yes, but what can this dude do with Reduced-Fat Wheat Thins and Squeeze Cheez? Now there's the mark of a truly great culinary arteeest!

Hey, Bumper, I was just wondering how many bottles of wine has you crashed in the last two weeks?

Sorry to highjack your thread, Karen m'love, but an inquiry like that just cries out for a response. The answer, Jesus, is narry a one. Ever since that unfortunate incident during my first shift, I haven't broken a single one. Damned good thing to. Thursday night I was putting away a dozen bottles of Chateau Neuf du Pape that was a mere $623 a crock. Can you say "careful?" I looked today when I was in the store, and there were only 8 left. No stains - either wine, blood, or tears on the floor, so I'm guessing we sold 4 jugs of it. Man, I can't imagine spending that much on a bottle of wine.

There was also an article on him in the July issue of Food and Wine magazine. It shows him at La Cueva del Chango. Exactly where I'll be in a couple of days.

No hay problema, Nerak - just tickled my funny bone that you hadn't seen it. I printed the recipes from the site. We have friends coming in from out of town next month, and Pepin's recipes definitely looked worth a try for dinner one night while they are here.
