Los Burritos del Gordo

Los burritos del Gordo (avenida 15 between corner with calle 10 bis)
This little place opened a few weeks ago and promises to be one of Playa´s best kept secrets, it not right on the tourist area but very well worth the 2 blocks to get to the best fish tacos and burritos that I have ever tried.
The burritos are huge, they cost about 3 dollars. tacos are 8 pesos. The owner, Javier used to work in his own restaurant in California so he knows and keeps the health and quality standards you would find on the US he is charming and the burritos are delicious

this last picture are 2 fish tacos mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Claudia, Since there really isn't a 15th Street, did you perhaps mean it's on 15th Avenue between Streets 10 and 12? It certainly looks like something I'd like to try

That is great! I really hope they do good, I met with Javier "El gordo" and he told me his story, he and his wife drove here and ran completely out of money, they sold their van, he gave half the money to her to buy a small compact car to look for work and he put everything else, to the last penny on this place he really believes in, he was succesful in California, but I guess he missed Mexico.
So the small family has every penny and hope invested in this place and it is really good, he is having more and more business, 2 days ago he had a party of 20 and I saw him running out in a Taxi to get more food!
I wish them lots of luck, when you go tell him you are a magician and you can tell how he got here and all, and his name and all, he speaks fluent english and he will be very surprised with your mind reading ability
Say hi to Iain from Jan and me!
take care

Oh my, we looked for a long time and we couldn't find it! We went up and down 15th. 4 times in the car but no luck. Then, we parked and started walking- still no luck. We were so bummed- we finally ended up at the new
Fruita and Yogurta on 10th. in the Plaza Pelicanos. It was good- Randy had the club sandwich and a strawberry milkshake and I had a Cuban torta and
an orange juice based smoothie. It was a bit pricey for lunch- $130-with so many other great alternatives- but the A/C was wonderful, the service was great and the bathroom was sparkling clean!!

But, we want to go to Los Burritos del Gordo- so if anyone can direct us- we would appreciate it!

I just came back home and found your message, sorry, I was in Cancun, maby los burritos was closed when you went by, it has cocacola plastic tables and chairs, if you go up tenth street, in the direction of the highway, and take a right turn on 15th avenue, you will bump into it, the next corner, I believe it is 12 street, right in front of the back part of Mayan Paradise hotel, across the street form a small real estate office in a white building and with an orange wall small plastic sign and the smell will probably guide you. Or you can try taking the left street to the side of Mayan Paradise hotel and when you reach 15th avenue you have to see it right across the street.
Hope you find it next time, I will be for sure in the next Playa edition of the cancunmap.com in mapchick´s map I already sent her the info.

If it's any help, kittiekat, Mayan Paradise is between Calle 12 and 10bis on Avenida 10. That would put del Gordo on the corner of Calle 10bis and Avendia 15. And maybe it's an evening thing? ¡Suerte!
