Part of the job of terrorist is to split a nation apart. This thread (and others) shows it is doing a good job. Comments like "clinically psychotic" to people that oppose you??????? Playadelsoul thank you for your posts, you back up your facts, not just put out opinions, and you do it is a class act way.

My new t-shirt will read Clinically psychotic and proud. Here is another scientific fact: When some liberals get all lathered up, they name call. As a conservative, I on the other hand respect the opinion of others. Unless they are pinkos's.

I saw a clip of Bush reacting to the court's ruling in this case. He said something like "If al-Qaeda call the US we need to be able to listen to the conversation". It strikes me as sheer and utter nonsense. There have been reports that for years the NSA recieves every phone call, fax etc. coming into the US. The volume of the information gathered is part of the problem. This has been done under congressional oversight. If someone in one of our myriad of intelligence agencies has interest in a particular call or even series of call from a particular time frame they simply request a transcript of the call from the NSA. What the NSA interpreter or transcriber then does is send a print out of the conversation or conversations to the requesting agency. Under the existing regimen the US part of the conversation is blacked out on the transcript avoiding the need for a warrant. Does anyone actually think that if the interpreter hears someone in the US say something along the lines of "I'm going to set off a bomb" that he would not immediately react and that FISA warrants would not be issued retroactively?

so, wrapping this one up after 35 and a half pages.
summarizing: even though you may not care if NSA, FBI, CIA, IRS, ATF, ABC, DEF, ETC., taps YOUR phone, ALOT of people would like to see this done according to the law of the land, which should be flexible enough to allow such surveillance to be rapidly deployed such as to quickly react and be effective.
