TEXAS...a whole nother country
We got back late last night from a few days in Texas, and as always, we had the best darn steaks and great shopping
AUSTIN is awesome...me thinks, and Ft. Worth has it's charm. Saw some cute cowboys in that area :p |

It's different, and I love the 'bigness' of that state, and the 'everything is bigger and better in Texas attitude
. Except that it was too hot, but shopping in Dallas is our favourite thing to do. Ft. Worth's museums I always enjoy and of course the Japanese garden. Downtown Austin is fun, and Central Market there is way, way better than the one in Dallas. Something about that hippy-type city that is lovable

i love how friendly most people are here! i couldn't believe when we got married in vermont how tight lipped most people were! we breathed a big sigh of relief when we got back home, lol!
there's definitely tons and TONS of shopping in dallas, but i like austin better also... lots of great cities all over the state, and not enough cheap gas to see them all with! |

Mariposta...I'm so glad you enjoyed your time in Texas!
I've lived here all my life and I still haven't seen all the wonderful things it has to offer. I was born about 10 miles from where I live now. Ft Worth is a great place, with the Stock Yards and Bass Hall, and Austin....you can't help but love Austin, it's got a vibe all it's own. My mom lives in the hill country and if you like small town, antique/junk shopping, quaint B$B's, and home cookin' you should plan a trip down there. Don't forget to stop by Luckenbach for an outdoor jam session and a 'One hole Golf Tournement" Thanks for letting us brag...like we need any encouragement

Another great thing about the Republic of Texas is that its nestled between two great countries..........USA and Mexico
PlayadelSoul is absolutely right about south by southwest, in my opinion the best music venue, also the film industry. I've lived in Texas for 17years, my family who live in Az. are just now accepting this is my home.

I have this habit, when I'm waiting on line anywhere, I will almost *always* talk to the person I'm on line with. In Texas, they talk right back, just as friendly as pecan pie... When I'm up north or in England, they look at me like I'm going to steal their wallet!
