Six Feet Under
I'm a late bloomer to this mini series. My 2nd cousin twice removed (according to genealogy), recommended it to me. He's the cousin my father never knew about, and I was able to find last year during my genealogy research. Anyway, the old geezer is 79 and LOVES this show! Surprised me.
So we started watching the first one Friday night and it sort of freaked me out...couldn't help thinking about my Dad and how they 'prepare' you for burial Other than that, I found it fascinating. It's a topic most try to avoid, and here it is on screen!! Some major dysfunction in the family, and apparently, I'm in for lots of surprises as we continue Any fans? What did you think (if you were following Six Feet when the rest of the world was)? |

I watched it pretty much the whole time it was on... it got a little "too much" during some of the middle seasons... but the first couple of seasons and the last couple of seasons were really good. And one of the best "final episodes" I've seen.

I was turned on to this show while living in Playa, by a friend who loaned me the 1st two seasons. I was instantly hooked. Of course I found Cablemas TV viewing quite limiting so a new show was really welcome. The show certainly put the "fun" in dysfunctional family.

I wonder why many people tend to look at individuals who work in a funeral home as sort of weird?

Hatching, Matching, and Dispatching...it's about a family in Newfoundland, they run the ambulance service, perform weddings and funerals and run the mortician's service as well...OMG it is totally irreverant and hilariously funny- and pretty shocking (lots of swearing, sexual innuendo and nudity). I think it is far better than 6 Feet Under. http://www.hatchingmatchinganddispatching.com/index.htm Any Canucks watching this besides me? Not sure if they are making any more of them. Anyone see the one where the guys went moose hunting and Shawn Majumber's character was smoking weed and then had sex with the moose they shot?

It's Newfie humour which can be quite crude. You would either love it or hate it. Don and I have never laughed out loud so much watching anything besides this show. It is VERY weird, though! It's a Canadian series, I have no idea how you could get it in the US, I am sure you could order DVDs somehow if you were really interested. |

I had recurring dreams (not nightmares) about the final episode for weeks and weeks.
It was a great show and the final episode was totally mindblowing and totally beautiful. I remember Kelli and I watched it together and were stunned at the end and just sat and stared at the blank screen for like 10 minutes. Don't watch it first, finish the series first so you are "married" to the characters. |
