Comair Crash

This is a little too close for comfort for me. I often fly Delta standby since a friend is retired from there and shares his buddy passes and I frequently end up on their commuter flights, ie: Comair, out of Cincinnati or sometimes Atlanta.

Scary stuff. Fifty people possibly dead? Very sad.

I'm not sure about close to home, but the events in the passenger aviation world don't make me enthusiastic about flying to Kansas City on Friday

I knew that, Doggiemom. I have a brother who works for an airline, he is in Atlanta. On 9/11 he deplaned passengers, some of whom had seen on the of planes fly into the Towers as they were departing from Newark.

I also am pretty darn sure that we will be fine on our flights. I do not have a real concern about safety - the the odd thought does cross one's mind.

There are times when I get terrified driving in my car. The thought of something going wrong while hurtling down the road at 70 miles an hour without much to protect me can put me almost over the top. But I suck it up and get over it. Taking off in a plane is probably a lot more safe, at least that's what the safety experts say. However the last I knew I didn't have to go through security to drive my car and leave my iPod and cameras home.

I'd rather drive than fly, but I still get on airplanes. Somehow crashing sounds a lot worse than a vehicular accident simply because you're UP there and have to come DOWN.
What sad news.

Last I heard is that they took off on the wrong runway..the shorter one instead of the longer one. Of course it's media speculation right now....will have to wait for the black box..which is really yellow.
So sorry for all those victims and family members. Slim flies to Pittsburgh on the 30th. (Time for me to clean out his junk).

Yeah that's what it's sounding like. I'm a Delta employee and from what we are hearing, the tower gave the right instructions to take off from the longer run way but it looks like the pilot used the shorter one by mistake. This isn't confirmed yet 100% though. I don't think the plane ever got up in the air. What a tragedy. I've flown into Lexington before and know the area well. What a shame. God bless the families involved.
