Headin' back for second visit nearly 10 years later...
Hi all, me and the wife will be heading back out to Playa mid October (7 weeks to go!)
. We honeymooned there 10 years ago and loved the place. This time however we will be taking the 2 kids (10 year old daughter Jade and 7 year old son Raphael) They can't wait, we can hardly either! We will be staying at the same hotel/resort for memories sake, the Gran Porto Real. My wife loves to look and feel of this resort and the good news is from my reading, they look like they are kid friendly! We really want to make the best of our trip and are looking for some great (not tourist trap) type activities to book on our stay, any suggestions are welcome! I booked shuttle service from playa.info. Thanks for offering this services. Now back to watching the webcam! hahaha Cheers, David and family from Montreal QC, Canada |

Welcome to the forum...
...and yes the webcam can be addictive...I have it minimized on my computer all day...pop it up when the boss thinks I am really working... Something hubby and I found a lot of fun to do was parasailing...our first trip to the Riviera Maya we stayed at Barcelo...parasailing was available from the resort...we did it tandem...all I can say is it was amazing...the views were incredible...if you have never done this I highly recommend it... ...enjoy your trip. |

David: We booked Gran Porto Nov 2004,since they were overbooked they gave us a room across the street in the first completed wing of the now Royal Porto Real.(sister resort)The room was to die for,go into their website and check it all out, in room double jacuzzi, etc.Anyway, in this forum I have read couple reports that people were bumped to Royal Porto as an upgrade, as little as $30 or $60 a night, not sure, anyway, but if you stay at Royal you can also use everything at Gran but Gran can not use Royal. I believe I have read after Nov 1 it will not allow children under a certain age and you are going before then.We stayed at Royal April 29 to May 6 of this year and loved the place, food, service, etc was all really good. Plan to stay there on our next trip.If you stay at Gran, I am sure they would be happy to show you the completed Royal during your stay.Have a great time and happy aniversary.
