Playa Jazz Fest

Just found a bit of info in my mailbox, thought maybe some of you who will be in the area at this time might be interested.

FANS OF JAZZ and Latin music might want to plan a trip to the Riviera Maya to coincide with the fourth annual Latin Jazz Music Festival, scheduled for Nov. 22 to 25 in Playa del Carmen. Performances will be held nightly starting at 8 p.m. at Mamitas Beach Nov. 22 to 24 and at the Royal Porto Real on Nov. 25. Admission will be free from Nov. 22 to 24, and a "minimal" donation will be required on Nov. 25. Among the scheduled performers are Kool & the Gang, the Screaming Headless Torsos, Aguamala, Mint Condition, Wet Paint, Tom Coster, Benny Ibarra and Nacho Mendez. We were lucky to be in Playa two years ago when the jazz festival was on. Amazing music and an even better party.

This will be our third Jazz Fest in Playa.

The first time, I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! We were sitting at Mamita's with our toes digging in the cool sand, sipping on a margarita, gazing at the stars, breathing the ocean breeze and totally enthralled by the performers and their music!! Folks, it cant get any better than this! I am so looking forward to this event again!

Hopefully, we will arrive in time Friday night to see Cool and the Gang. Yippeeeeee!!!!!

Thanks for the heads up Shammy! I have scheduled my next visit to include that weekend! Enjoyed it last year...Except for the rain at the end... hey we didn't care..

I inquired about the cost of the Jazz Fest on the 25th at the Royal Porto Real. The response was that you could buy tickets at the Riviera Maya Tourism Promotion Board main office and the cost was $120 USD per person which included "open bar and fancy snack dinner". Too much for my wallet unfortunately.

Wow, didn't expect it to be that much. I'll check out the free shows on Weds, Thurs, and Fri....and by then I'll prob be all festivaled out anyways

.........on the program they just mention a donation. Now we know just how big a donation is expected.

I just came back from a very Cool concert from Cool and the gang, I hope to have some pictures to post tomorrow, yesterday I was there to watch wet paint and Mint Condition
