My name is Heather and my husband Garry and I have been travelling to Mexico since 1995. Our first trip was to Playa, where we have stayed on three occasions. Our preferance is Cozumel, where we have stayed at least ten times. I love the beaches in playa, however my husband is a diver and we prefer less crowds. It has been really shocking to see the growth of playa over the last 11 years, and though it is a great place, I miss the quiet town. Tried Cancun once, and didn't like that at all. This forum has saved me from feeling the depression of being away from my home away from home and I thank you for that.

Welcome, catoduck!!!

My and David's first vacation together was at an AI on Cozumel (I'd fallen in love with Coz after stopping there on an excursion from Cancun in 1990 and a cruise stop six months later). We stayed at Paradisus, the northernmost resort on the island (last I heard it was now named Melia Turquesa??) While we love to snorkel, we found the quiet of Cozumel at night to be a bit too "deafening" for us to stay there for more than a day trip. But we do so enjoy spending an entire day on Coz.

Hope you guys can maybe do an overnight in Playa and meet some peeps the next time you are in the area!!
