First Time Traveler

Hello Everyone...
I am just posting to introduce myself... I will be traveling in October to the Riveria Maya section of Mexico This will be my first trip out of the mainland (USA)... so I guess I'm officially a rookie...

I do have one question...(I'm not sure if this is the correct forum but I'll ask anyway)....
Everyone tells me to avoid the water... to the point of not allowing ice cubes in my drinks or I will suffer from Montezuma's revenge and my holiday will be ruined... is this true???

THanks!
I'm sure I'll be posting for additional info as the big day approaches....

Joe

don't worry too much about the water or ice cubes, that's pretty much a non-issue these days.........but beware the aggressive natives

Thanks

SCTX!...
THanks for your quick response... as for the "aggressive natives"... I don't think so...

I have co-workers who have visited Mexico and the one thing that I have heard constantly is that the Mexican people are very friendly...

Thanks again!
Joe!

Scott! Be nice!

Welcome, Joe. You'll have a fabulous time and you do need to be warned about one thing....you are gonna be hooked on Playa. You will want to return as soon as you leave. Just remember, I did warn you!

EDIT: By the way, you should use some caution, don't drink water from the tap. There's plenty of bottled water every where. Ice cubes will be fine. In the words of Babaloo...do a search, you'll find plenty of information.

Which year are you going? I always heard it was the coolest back in the '80's, but I'd like to see it in 2020's also.

chupacabras have also been reported in Texas...

Playabum.... thanks... I'm sure that I will enjoy myself....

NiceTom..... Don't know what it was like in the 80's... first time visit will be in Oct. this year....

Hi Joe! I'm going for the first time, also to the Riviera Maya, but in Jan. 07. I hope you'll post a trip report and give your impressions when you get back.
It's a little confusing, isn't it? (Meaning, what the heck is Xel Ha, and Xcaret, etc.) People that have been there many times write trip reports that are somewhat confusing. I'd be interested in reading yours.
Have a great time!

Yeh, don't drink the water. Stick with bottled water for that. I've always used the tap wate for showers and brushing my teeth and have had zero issues. Have a fun trip...
