GPS Device for Texas to PDC Drive
I've done the search deal with no real luck or significant information on a GPS/Navigation type device for Mexico. We are getting ready for our drive down from Rockwall, Texas to PDC. Has anyone RECENTLY driven down and used any type of GPS/Navigation device. I would definitely invest in one if there is one available that would be beneficial. I would really appreciate any advice, you can send me a PM if you would like. We are taking an SUV loaded and pulling a small trailer and a pick-up truck with a topper with the belongings will be following behind. We will use the pick-up truck to drive the trailer back (any thoughts on this plan) FM3 in hand, house was supposed to be ready on 10/18 but is about 30 days behind (kind of expected something like that) but we have to meet the furniture from Guadalajara in October so the drive down plan is still on! Thanks!

You might want to check http://www.maptech.com/. They have an on-line map service that might help with getting way-points or maps... Good Luck & Safe travel... |

I used a Garmin hand held years ago, that was simple to use, and made Star Trek nav system look obsolete... Moving map showed all roads from Alaska to tierra del Feugo. I remember being on dirt tracks in Honduras which were not on any paper map, but perfectly shown on the Garmin.
I would bet they are even better now.... |

Two weeks ago we used a borrowed old GPS unit and some waypoints from Google Earth on a little 100 mile junket off the main roads in Qroo & Yucatan states.
It was a huge comfort to have the GPS pointing the way when presented with equally unappealing choices at dusty forks in the road. It is now my #1 must have gadget - and I have no intention of taking a trek like you are describing. |
