A science teacher at my high school back in the '70s had one. They're cute as hell and fun to watch, but kinkajous are generally pretty short-tempered little bastards. They also have a rather distinctive odor -- not a stench by any means, but they're not the kind of animal I'd want walking around my house or sitting on my chairs. So aside from the threatened species angle, I can think of a couple reasons not to get one.
