Hi everyone,
Want to go to Playa the end of October. Anyone have experience with Funjet or any other travel group? Which is the best to use? Anyone ever have any problems, etc.?

Oct 2005 we had booked trip to Playa but due to hurricane Wilma, we had to rebook and go to Los Cabos, Mexico. We went thru a local travel agent going thru Funjet and had no problems at all.Continental had cancelled all flights in as they were still getting people out of Cancun.(We were to have originally gone Oct 29)Los Cabos was very nice and the Funjet rep at the resort took the guys for beer, etc for our deep sea fishing trip(3 couples) This April 29, went thru same travel agent and booked thru Funjet, had direct flight to Cancun, was great.Stayed at Royal Porto Real in Playa del Carmen and LOVED the place.Stayed a week. When checking in on that Saturday, we were given a room near the court yard away from pool and beach.I ask the guy for a better room and he said come back in morning as alot were checking out.Next morning first two choices were not much better,so in a nice way, I said, do I need to get my Funjet rep? as there is one full time at the resort.Again he checked with his boss?(kept going to back) anyway, came back and gave us a room overlooking the pool from the 2nd floor. Was very happy with that room and had the rest of the week.So far we have been very happy with Funjet. You may want to check with your resort to make sure they have a Funjet rep as they are there to help you when you first arrive, answer any questions, help with tours, etc.Have a great time.We hope to be back in Feb 2007 for my husbands birthday.

So glad you replied. I'm calling Funjet right now to see what deals I might be able to get. By the way, I've been wanting to stay at the Porto Real!

Have used Funjet both with a travel agent and without (through their website). No problems at all. We've also used Worry Free Vacations (online) with no problems.

Good luck!

Having to retype, first time did not take, anyway,we purchased cancellation insurance for any reason and right before both trips purchased Travel Guard thru our travel agent. We are ages 48 and 50 so wanted to be safe. You can purchase the cancellation insurance thru Funjet as part of your package.I believe prices have gone up as our April 2006 trip for a week cost $3200.00 and quote I got for Feb 2007 was around $3900.00.This was off another website, not Funjets as I have been having problems entering dates on Funjet website for some reason.Think its my computer, as I can get quotes from other websites. The $3200.00 also covered round trip airport transfers.Again, you will love Royal Porto.Hope to be there in Feb 2007.Have a great time.

Already made my reservations! One week at Porto Real for 2, $2,236.00, junior suite oceanview, transfers, cancellation insurance included. Am so excited, not even sure if I could have gotten the package cheaper and don't care! I hope some of you are in Playa at Halloween. That's when we will be there.

Did you pick Royal Porto Real, or the sister resort across the street, Gran Porto Real? Gran Porto will be less then Royal Porto. You got a great price if its for Royal Porto.Price I pulled up for Nov 11 to 18 was around $3500.00 and for Feb 2007 around $3900.00.You did select the AI ?

Gran Porto. I saw it when I was there several years ago and wanted to stay there. I know the new one is supposed to be better, but don't care! This is great as far as I'm concerned

The Gran Porto Real is in town, which is great! You get the AI experience, but can walk around town if you get bored. Although we've not stayed at the Gran Porto Real, staying in town is the best! There is so much to see and do!

If you're looking for a tour, the Playa Info tours can't be beat. . . we've done the Chichen Itza tour and also the Tulum and Beyond tour. I would recommend either, or both!! If that doesn't suit you, the Fat Cat can't be beat.

See the "trip planning" tab at the top of the page for details. In short, the Fat Cat is a catamaran. Playinfo offers a daytrip that includes snorkeling, Rum Punch and not to be forgotten . . . boom netting!!

I just booked (last Thursday) round trip direct flight tickets between Chicago Midway and Cancun for $243 per person. What a deal!! We have used Funjet many times with no problems.
