Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

Did anyone catch the premiere of the new show? I was only moderately interested in the show, but after watching the premiere, I think I'm gonna love it.
It's from the same team that developed The West Wing, and it shares a lot of the same qualities as the earliest years of that show: for example, excellent cast, and sharp, witty writing. Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford make an excellent team--they play a pair of uber-successful television comedy writers with exceptionally unsuccessful personal lives. They make very believable flawed characters.
What did anyone else think?

Haven't watched it yet, but it is on the Tivo with dozens of other shows and movies still waiting to be watched. Not to mention the 4 Blockbuster DVD's that have been sitting for a couple weeks now.

I just don't seem to have enough time to actually sit and watch TV anymore.

Yeah, Aaron Sorkin developed it. Watched it last night. Seems pretty good. Definitely like the casting of Perry and Whitford. Steven Weber seemed to do pretty well as the hard nosed boss. I'm not an Amanda Peet fan, so we'll see how that goes.
The writing looks good, I just wonder (other than the "pulled episode" issue), what issues/plots they are going to cover.

Timothy Busfield (Thirty-Something, West Wing) is Directing, Producing and Writing on this show. Been on it since early development. He's a behind the scenes genius and his work in front of the camera has always been very much more than adequate.

Tommy Schlamme (hehehe) is all over this show as well.

Yeah, I'm not sure that Steven Weber was the best choice for that role...He didn't seem that believable to me.

And oh yeah! Amanda Peet! She definitely had some reconstructive work on those gigantic eyebrows she used to have! I honestly did not even recognize her. I'm also not a big fan of hers. She seems a little lightweight for the tough as nails, willing to do anything to succeed executive. I dunno, the jury is still out on some of the casting, but overall, the show has great potential.

I agree cuffed...Timothy Busfield is very talented, and pretty underrated. I really like him in the understated role.

What a unique concept a drama about a comedy. If they ever show any of the comedy skits, they are going to have to be really funny and cutting edge or are they just always going to refer to how good the material is?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We watched it and were surprised at how good it was...I did not know Timothy Busfield was writing, producing and directing the show....he is very talented and I loved watching him on "Thirty Something"...that was one of my favorite shows...

Matthew Perry fits his role perfectly.....gonna keep watching.

He is a cutie....

I agree with the lightweight impression. And there must have been 4 or 5 scenes that ended with a too-long shot of her odd, wistful, "looking up to the corners of my eyes thinking of a secret" impression of Audrey Hepburn. It struck me a weird, not strong.

Can't wait to see it! I am missing so many shows this week while travelling...but I am TiVo'ing them all...this one, Boston Legal and Greys Anatomy. Can't wait to get home! Glad to hear it was good, was wondering if it would live up to the hype

Tried watching it - fell asleep. Woke up. Ran the TIVO back and fell asleep again. Don't think this one will make my favorites list.

Was she the girl in American Pie?
